Success at the Winter Fair
The Winter Fair
was a huge
success! Mr
Matthews and
the Year 6
Enterprise Team
organ ised a
fantastic fair on
Monday 18 th
December.
There were
games, raffles,
r e f r e shmen t s
and music. We
would like to say thank you to everyone who
showed support for the CPA Winter Fair.
The stalls were busy and all of the children seemed
to enjoy the activities available to them.
As a result of the fantastic support we have been
able to raise £1500 which is being used to purchase
new history topic books for each year group.
Without the incredible support shown by the CPA
community this event wouldn't have been the
success it was.

Tips on Handwriting and General Presentation.
Although I‘m sure we do not need to convince any of you about the
importance of neat presentation and handwriting, I believe it is worth
emphasising it again at the start of a new year! These are really
important and valuable skills which will be used all through life – not just
at school. After all, the purpose of writing is to create something for
someone to read – if it can’t be easily read, then
what is the point?
What may be less well-known is that evidence clearly shows that a child’s self-
esteem is raised when they are encouraged to take pride in their handwriting and
overall presentation and we can see that for ourselves when we have the
opportunity to praise a child for their work.
Therefore, we are continuing to put a really strong focus on developing and
improving these skills throughout the school and would welcome your support at
home in encouraging your children to spend some extra time on improving their
written work.
Our top 5 tips to encourage more handwriting at home are:
Make handwriting fun and meaningful, so-
Create opportunities e.g. shopping lists/labels/signs around the house.
Display great examples –on fridges/in scrapbooks/ on notice boards.
Ensure your child is sitting properly when writing e.g. table not floor.
Give lots of praise and encouragement when they create a lovely example, but –
don’t accept poor examples!
Hopefully, together, we can ensure that the saying – ‘practice makes perfect’ can come true when it
