RopeblockRopeblock BV is a Dutch producer of crane blocks and swivels. Beside blocks we

produce a variety of sockets for the offshore hoisting industry.

We are located in Oldenzaal in the Netherlands, which is in the centre of Europe

and can be easily reached by road or air.

General

We produce crane blocks with reeve guides on all models.

- All hooks according to DIN in forged alloy steel.

- Checkpoints deformation indication on all hooks.

- Duplex hook available in all sizes.

- Sheaves are furnished with double sealed roller bearings for high

speed services, long life durability.

- Sheaves fully protected by side plates.

- Dual action hooks (swinging hooksuspention supports a swiveling hook)

- Beckets suitable for Ropeblock wedge sockets (see page 16)

- All thrust bearings are protected against dirt and humidity.

- Ropeblock designs crane blocks with a safety factor ratio 4 to 1.

- Design of all crane blocks in accordance with load group 1 Bm - DIN 15400.

- All sheaves ductile-iron GGG 50.

- Flat bottom side plates for self standing during reeving-process.

- All our single/triple sheaveblocks have a centre becket between the side plates.

- All five sheaves crane blocks have a dead end connection intergrated in the

side plates.

- The thrust bearing and the traverse journals are lubricated through a pressure

grease fitting.

- Every crane block comes with cheek weights for stable lifting.

- Short and compact design for maximum lifting height.

- The groove of the sheaves are machined to a smooth surface for better load

distribution properties. This to prolong the cycle time of your wire rope.

Each block can be deliverd with drawing, part list, proof load certificate and a

hook material certificate.

Ratio rope - sheave is minimal 1:20.

Sheave size from 250 to 630 mm for wire rope from 11 to 32 mm.

Ropeblock warning and application instruction

WARNING

Where equipment has swiveling and moving parts there are potential safety

hazards. Care should be taken when working with or repairing such equipment.

If used incorrectly breakage could occur inflicting injury or death.

When equipment is in use do not put hands:

1. Between sheaves, side plates and guards.

2. In area of becket, hook, hook nut and cross head.

Take great care to avoid clothing becoming trapped.

Repair and reeving should be carried out by trained personnel only. Power

should be switched off before operations are carried out. Work should only take

place when equipment is seated on a firm surface.

Limitation of use

1. Safe working load (SWL) should never be exceeded.

2. Crane blocks should be used in vertical lift only.

3. Rigging blocks should be used only as in design specifications.

Blocks should not be used for towing unless specifically designed and marked

for that purpose.

4. Swivels should be used in either vertical or horizontal plain only.

5. Horizontal and vertical lead sheaves used only as indicated in description.

6. Shock or side loading should not be applied unless equipment is designed

for that purpose.

7. Load should always be in seat of hook or eye.

NEVER AT POINT

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspection should be carried out weekly or where equipment is used

infrequently, each time it is used by the operator.

Every 500 operating hours or every 4 years, hook and hooknut are to be

dismantled, inspected and retested (proof loaded).

9

Page 11: crane

Ropeblock warning and application instruction

Thorough examination by a competent and trained person should be carried out

annually on equipment for mobile and crawler cranes.

Electric overhead travelling crane blocks at each inspection and service.

Particular attention should be paid to the following:

1. Wear in hook, centre pin, becket and threads in hook and nut.

2. Play in sheave bushes or bearings.

3. Spacer bolts, nuts and lynch pins.

4. Check for cracks in welds.

6. Wear to holes in side plates and becket.

If cracks or heavy gouges appear, the equipment should not be used and

qualified opinion should be sought. If grooved and the section reduced by more

than 5% the item should be replaced.

Repairs should be done by grinding. NO welding should be carried out unless

prior authority is obtained from Ropeblock B.V.

If the holes in crosshead, sideplates, becket, eyes or yaws are enlarged by more

than 5%, the part should be replaced. Any parts to be replaced should be

purchased from Ropeblock B.V., or manufactured under their instruction.

All repairs to be carried out by responsible personnel and great care should be

taken in the re-assembly of the equipment and captivating parts i.e., grub

screws, lynch pins, etc. Check and refit only correct sizes and threads.

Lubrication As a general rule sheaves, cross heads and bodies should be oiled through nipples:

1. Each week for E.O.T. crane blocks.

2. Each week for frequently used mobile and crawler crane blocks, lead sheaves

and swivels, monthly for infrequently used equipment or each time it is used.

3. Double sealed or shielded bearings do not require lubrication
