Cradle to Career Alliance A coalition of community leaders working to measurably improve children’s success and reduce disparities by helping community organizations and schools work more closely together and use local data to identify practices that work

Five Key Stages C2CA will report on success at five key stages in the cradle to career path:

• Kindergarten readiness 1 • Third grade reading proficiency 2 • Successful transition into and out of middle school 3 • Graduation from high school ready for career or college 4 • Career training or enrollment in college and completion 5

Why?

• This year Columbia Public Schools hit the 50% mark for free and reduced-price lunch population

• Employers are looking for technical workers and cannot find qualified local youth to fill positions

• Good work has been done in our community for decades, but statistics for children have not improved

Boone County ranks 426th

out of 2,478 counties studied in helping poor children up the income ladder.
