The civilization of ancient Greece flowered more than 2500 years ago.

The ideas of the ancient Greeks continue to influence the way we live today, for example, democracy and Olympic Games.

The ancient Greeks attempted to explain the world through the laws of nature and made important discoveries in science and architecture.

It came from Athens.

People there could decide what they wanted.

Citizens were allowed to vote. It was formed from the Greek words 'demos' (people)and

'kratein'(rule).

Different from the Greek form of Democracy

The 2 basic principles of modern democracy: Equality and Freedom.

All adults have right to vote.

They were dedicated to the Olympian gods in Olympia.

They continued for nearly 12 centuries and then it stopped.
