Overview of the CPIM programThe CPIM program consists of 2 modules:

Incorporating a business-process orientation, the CPIM program integrates 2 individual modules in a progression of increased understanding. To become CPIM certified, a candidate must pass an exam for both CPIM modules.

1. Basics of Supply Chain ManagementThis module provides basic definitions and concepts for planning and controlling the flow of products or services into, through, and out of an organization. It explains fundamental relationships among the activities that occur in the supply chain from suppliers to custo-mers. As the introductory module it covers at an overview level the material presented in depth in the other four modules.

CPIM P1 CertificateThe Basics of Supply Chain Management module covers a solid overview of the concepts, tools and terminology specific to pro-duction and inventory management. This module is the ideal in-troduction course for individuals, working in adjacent functional areas (purchasing, information systems, engineering, ….) who need a solid overview of production and inventory management. That is the reason why Basics of Supply Chain Management is the only module awarded a separate Recognition of Achievement Certifi-cate upon completion: Certified in the Basics of Supply Chain Management.

2. Master Planning of ResourcesThis module explores the processes used to develop sales and operations plans (S&OP). It identifies and assesses in-ternal and external demand and forecasting requirements.It also learns to plan a distribution network and replenish-ment in a distribution environment. It focuses on producingachievable master schedules which are consistent with busi-ness policies, objectives and resource constraints.

For maximum comprehension of the course content, students should be familiar with the infor-mation and concepts presented in the other CPIM modules before taking this one.

• The CPIM Exam Content Manual is a must have for all candidates. Module by module it outlines the cur-riculum, so you know what subject matter to study. • The APICS Dictionary is the standard for defining terms used in the operations management field. It’s a unique reference tool for resource management professionals. This practical dictionary is also available with French translation.
