CIMA members selected for CPD monitoring, and not part of an accredited employer scheme, must submit their CPD record via the Competency and Learning website.

This document outlines how to record your CPD and the process for submitting your record to the CIMA CPD Monitoring Team.

Logging inGo to competency.cgma.org and select ‘Login’.

Review and accept the terms and conditions then select ‘Login with CIMA account’.

Enter your CIMA contact ID and password.

You are now logged into the Competency and Learning website.

When logging in for the first time you will need to add details of your roles and responsibilities so that we can understand how your learning relates to your role. To do this go to https://competency.aicpa.org/profile or click on your name on the top right-hand side of the screen and select ‘My Profile’ from the drop-down menu.

Getting started

On the next page select ‘Roles & responsibilities’ then ‘Add role’. Complete the required information. ‘Save changes’ before leaving the page

Adding learning activitiesOnce your role and responsibilities are up to date select ‘My Learning’ from the drop down menu on the top right-hand side of the screen.

To add a learning activity that doesn’t feature on the website select ‘Report more learning’.

If you need to bring your record up to date please use this option.

After selecting ‘Report more learning’ the following page will appear. Complete all relevant fields. Once you’ve finished select ‘Save Changes’.

Please note that CIMA members don’t need to enter the ‘Duration’.

Select the appropriate option from the drop

down list.

Please ensure you answer the questions

provided in the box for your reflective

statement.

To find learning activities on the website you can:

a. Complete a self-assessment

Self-assessments are based on the CGMA Competency Framework and are designed to help you identify gaps in your skills and knowledge.

b. Use the navigation tools

The Management Accounting section offers a wide range of resources to support your CPD. To narrow your search use the navigation tools on the left-hand side of the page.

c. Use the search function

Site search can be found at the top of every page. Enter key search terms to find relevant resources.

Once you’ve found a learning activity that meets your needs select ‘Save’ or ‘Save to my learning’.

After clicking on ‘Save’ or ‘Save to My Learning’ a pop-up window will appear. Complete all relevant fields and select ‘Save Changes’ to add this activity to your My Learning record.

Once you’ve completed the activity you will need to go back to the product page and select ‘Complete: save to my learning’ to add a reflective statement.

If you are selected for CPD monitoring you will be notified by email and required to send your record for the last 12 months to CIMA.

To view your learning activities for the last 12 months select ‘filter’.

CPD monitoring - submitting your record to CIMA

Enter the date range provided in the CPD monitoring email. Include all complete, in progress and saved activities for this period and all roles held during this period. Select ‘update report’.

Next, select ‘send to CIMA’. You will be presented with a summary of your filtered record. This provides an opportunity to check that your record is complete before pressing ‘submit’.

You just sent your CPD record to CIMA.

The CPD Monitoring Team will confirm safe receipt of your submission as soon as possible.
