PROJECT TITLE (Project 6: Final Projects Series): Vide Game Lights

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:(250-word description of the project you are proposing)Describe the theme and subject of your project in depth. Describe what your project will be about. You may give some insight into the background of your work in relation to this proposed project.

This project will be a series of pictures of video game character figures that will resemble there 8 bit selves, along with some iconic symbols related to them that will be done with light painting. The figures are made of fuse beads melted together, while flashlights, neon sticks and other lights will be used for the symbols. The reason behind this project, is that video games have always being a big part of my life from the moment I was born. My mom had to stay at home most of the time when I was little, and even when she was pregnant because at the time she didn’t work. When she was pregnant my dad bought her an Atari so she could entertain herself when she couldn’t move much, and when I was little I would look at her playing and found it mesmerizing. Once I was able to play, my parents bought a Nintendo NES and it was the greatest thing of all because then I could play with and against my mom, and this helped us bond even more. Later on, when my mom was pregnant with my brother, she was having so many difficulties throughout the whole pregnancy that she couldn’t even sleep at night, so she would play all night and sleep in the morning when others could look and take care of her. Afterward, when my brother was little, my mom, my brother and I would play together all the time, and until this day we continue playing video games on our free time.

The character figures are made of fuse beads which are little plastic beads that you can arrange in any way and then fuse together with heat.

The symbols will be done with light painting using different size and colored flashlights.
