Glossary of Terms

Alias: alias refers to additional triggers assigned to the original trigger to combat potentialtypos or common misspellings.

Broadcast: The outbound sending of messages or a Campaign to a Group of Consumers.

Campaign: A specific mobile marketing initiative. Campaigns may have multiple Keywords.

Campaign Closed Message: this response is sent to texts received after the close of a mobitext poll campaign, notifying users that the campaign has expired.

Campaign Description: brief description of the mobile text message campaign.

Campaign Name: for ease of use, a campaign’s name should mirror its trigger; however, alonger descriptor may be used if needed.

Consumer : The mobile device/handset owner, who is interacting with the keyword/short codecombination on the Switchblade platform.

Create A New Group: each campaign that is created, can also be used as a group to send omarketing messages (remarketing to databases) .

Date Range: mobile text message campaigns are date sensitive; all campaigns are required have a start and end date.

Group: A List of consumers who have opted-in to a campaign or program (through a MO or web registration). A Group maintains consumer opt-in status and can be used to createoutbound SMS Broadcasts.

Keyword / Trigger : The word or phrase, sent to a short code, that initiates an interactiveWorkflow.

Limit Entries: in order to indicate that there is no limit on the number of entries per telephone

number the default is set to no. Selecting yes displays a field of entry for the limit entriesmessage as well as the number of maximum entries in a given time period. Once you havereached the limit the system no longer tracks data on any further entries.

Mobile Originated Message (MO): A Short Message Service (SMS) message sent from aConsumer's mobile device / handset to a short code.

Mobile Terminated Message (MT): A SMS message sent from a short code to a Consumer'smobile device/handset.

Optional Marketing Message: the optional marketing message is sent before the double opt

in and allows for a mobile text message to be delivered to a mobile number without adding itinto a group.

The terms shown on this page are listed in alphabetical order and are common phrases

used within the console.

Opt-in: Opt-in is a way of collecting mobile and Internet users' personal data. Within the opt-incontext, user acceptance is necessary before any mobile marketing solicitation.

Options: the answers or desired responses for the mobile text poll campaign. The number of options is six (6) at maximum; polls should have at least two (2) options (an A / B or yes / noresponse).

Poll Name: generally, a campaign’s name should mirror its trigger for ease of use.

Price Point: default= $0 for all standard SMS campaigns.

Program: A top level description of a business or marketing objective. Includes one or moreCampaigns.

Reply Message: the reply message can only be a maximum of 160 characters includingpunctuation and spaces.

Reply Message By Option: default selection is no. If yes is selected an additional text box wappear with an optional message field. Each option must have a separate response filled in fothis option to an function.

Session: Keeps track of where a Workflow / Conversation is in time and place. Once aCampaign is started from a specific phone number, a Session is created. At any one time, onone session can be active on a short code per unique phone number.

Short Code: Short numeric codes (typically four to six digits) to which text messages can besent to a mobile phone. Wireless subscribers send text messages to Short Codes withrelevant keywords to access a variety of mobile content.

SMS (Short Message Service): the global standard for text messaging. SMS allows mobiledevices to send and receive text messages up to 160 characters in length to and from other mobile devices.

Timer: A timer can be used to send out up to two (2) follow-up marketing messages.

Home Page

After you login, you will be presented with the home page. This is where you can accessthe features available for configuring and managing Contests, Polls, Groups, andBroadcasts.

NOTE: As a security feature, the Cox Mobile Media Console will automatically close a

session after 30 minutes of inactivity. In order for all of the features of the console to workproperly, you must use (Firefox as your internet browser).

Campaigns

By clicking on the campaigns tab, you will have the ability to access all of your campaigns.From here you can edit, view entries, obtain a link for a web registration API or clone acampaign.

You have the ability to deactivate campaigns by selecting the boxes to the left of the

campaigns and clicking on “expire selected now” button. Once expired, the campaign ismoved into an inactive status. Inactive campaigns can be viewed under the “campaignhistory” link.

You can navigate to the campaign you want to review by selecting the first letter of the nameof the campaign (they are sorted in alphabetic order).

NOTE: A trigger (keyword) can only be active for one campaign at a time, so if you want toreuse a keyword, you will need to either “expire” the campaign in question or change the

keyword of the campaign.

There are two steps you must take to setup a mobile campaign. First you must set up themessage for the initial call to action (campaign #1). Then, you must set up another campaign

to capture those users for remarketing purposes (campaign #2).First, click on new campaign to begin step #1

View Entries

Once a campaign has been entered into the system, you can validate that thecampaign is functioning as designed by clicking on “View Entries”. This featureallows you to get a snapshot of users who have participated in the campaign.

Campaign History

Campaign History: Once a campaign is no longer active (expired), it can be viewed byclicking on the “campaign history” link. The default sort order is oldest message first.

NOTE: All expired campaign can be “reactivated” by changing the end date of thecampaign after selecting “view/edit”. Campaigns will then be viewable under the “currentcampaigns” link.

Contests/Sweepstakes

By default all campaigns are considered a contest; the contest winner can only be decidedafter the campaign has “expired”. Campaign expiration can be done manually by changingthe end date or by clicking on the “expire selected now” button.

NOTE: You can select the number of winners for the contest by entering the number in thebox. You can send the “winners” an SMS by clicking on the link “Send Message to AllWinners”. Also, displayed is a text link-reply, which allows for an individual text messagereply to be sent to a single telephone number. You can communicate with a user directly viathis link to send him or her instructions for redemption.

Web Registration

In order to test your web registration, copy information in “HTML form example”,next; open Notepad and paste text into the body of the document,then save as an HTML document (.htm). Next, reopen the saved file to test the

web registration (see image below).

Polls

Polls allow you to capture the opinions of consumers through an interactive dialogue viacell phones.

The “polls” feature functions the same way as campaigns with one slight difference: pollresults are broken out by a users response ( i.e. how many people responded to a, b or c).

NOTE: polls can also function as contests if needed.

Poll results can be viewed under “current polls” by selecting view results for the specified

poll.

NOTE: Winners can only be chosen after a poll has expired. Expiration can be performedmanually by the number of entries or by the configured time frame for the poll.

The time of receipt, date, telephone number and response to question are listed inchronological order (the default sort order is oldest message first).

NOTE: By default all polls are considered a contest; the contest can only be decided after the poll has expired. You can select the number of winners for the contest by entering thenumber in the box. Winners can also be chosen by response. The filter by box can beutilized for selecting a winner for contestants that had a "correct response".

Broadcasts

BROADCASTS TA

Broadcasts also know as “alerts” are messages that are sent to a group (database) of consumers.

Under broadcasts you can schedule a future broadcast, view a broadcast that has beendelivered and create a new broadcast.

Broadcasts can only be sent to members of a group that are currently active at the time of the scheduled broadcast.

Sending Broadcasts

BROADCASTS TA

Once groups have been populated through the creation of opting-in to a mobile textcampaign, these groups can be sent remarketing messages.

The following fields are used to setup a broadcast:

• Broadcast Name: this is the name of the broadcast• Select One, Several, or All Groups: this scroll menu allows you to select one, several, or 

all available groups to send a broadcast to• Short Code: this displays the short code that has been provisioned (269411)• Date Scheduled: the default is set to send immediately. If schedule is selected, an

additional box will appear with a date and time field• Message: the message is the broadcast (alert) to be delivered to the selected groups.

There is a maximum limit of 160 characters (including spaces).

NOTE: All scheduled broadcasts can be viewed under “scheduled broadcasts”. Broadcastscan be deleted by selecting the desired broadcast and clicking the “delete selected now” link

Groups

GROUPS TAB

Groups: each opt-in campaign that is created in the console can also be used as a group tosend remarketing messages to. (Messages can only be sent to users who have opted-in to

receive alerts from a specific advertiser)

The groups display shows the group ID, group name, and the number of unique members. Thegroup tab also offers the ability to view a list of group members, send a bulk text to the group,send a campaign to the group, and export reporting as a CSV file.

NOTE: a consumer is able to join a group multiple times; however, if you send a broadcast to athat group, each user will only receive one message.
