Elevated Risk

Criteria that may be considered as elevated risk:

Some jobs in the plant may be identified as higher risk:

all plant jobs that are considered high risk, appropriate PPE for

the job will be provided to mitigate the risk.

Associates who have underlying health conditions

Associates who live with front-line medical workers or those who are

as high risk in their work environment

In all situations where an associate believed that due to their

health conditions and/or where they may be living with someone

that presents high risk, they should contact HR so that steps can

be taken to mitigate the risk.

How COVID-19 Spreads

The virus is thought to spread mainly from person to-person,

including:

Between people who are in close contact with one another

(within about 6 feet)

Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person

coughs or sneezes.

These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are

nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

Possibly by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it

and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes,

but this is not thought to be the primary way the virus spreads

Virus stays on different materials for different lengths of time – can

be as much as 72 hours

Page 22: COVID-19 Emergency Response Plan · Occupational Risk Pyramid for COVID-19 (Exposure) Very High Risk –Health Care workers, Laboratory, Morgue Workers High Risk –Health Care Delivery

Basic Infection

Prevention Measures

Frequently wash your hands using soap and water and/or

hand sanitizers

Stay home if you are sick

Disinfecting supplies will be available as recommended by

public health authorities

sneezes.

and other potential contaminants

Follow regular housekeeping practices, including routine

cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces, equipment, and other

elements of the work environment

Isolation Protocol for

Symptomatic Employees

Former Nurses office (beside Security) has been converted into

an Isolation Room.

If an associate feels ill or suspected to be ill at work (screening):

Provided with face mask and nitrile gloves (if not already equipped)

HR will contact associate through telephone in the room for further

assessment

If COVID symptoms suspected associate will be directed to leave

the building and HR will follow up

Go home or to a health care provider

If associate is well enough, may drive own vehicle

Taxi service for non-driving associate

Conclusion

The COVID-19 Virus presents a very serious health risk to

you, your family and our society.

There is an expectation that all of our associates will

Follow these new policies and practices;

Work together to improve our own behaviours; and

Identify opportunities for continuous improvements

As an associate, ask yourself:

When no one is watching, are you showing the right

behaviors and actions?

Page 56: COVID-19 Emergency Response Plan · Occupational Risk Pyramid for COVID-19 (Exposure) Very High Risk –Health Care workers, Laboratory, Morgue Workers High Risk –Health Care Delivery

For your health ……..

Wear a mask

Wash your hands

Maintain physical distance

Information aligned with Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines and recommendations.
