We would love to have you as part of our
church family. There are no tests! You
will learn about your Spiritual Gifts, the importance of tithing, and much more.
Always on time, though the schedule's tight From early morning, 'til late at night
Always - The Pastor's Wife
She's such a Lady, everyone's friend
She serves with love from deep within
All the rifts she tries to mend
Oh she's - The Pastor's Wife
She carries your burdens, she prays for you
Sometimes she cries the whole night through
But you won't know when she's feeling blue
'Because she's - The Pastor's Wife
At church as she starts to walk up the aisle
So many need to stop and talk for awhile
Though she is tired, she has her own trials
She's patient, she's - The Pastor's Wife
Her life, her time, is not her own
There's always a need, they go on and on
With a knock at the door, or a ringing phone.
That's the life of - The Pastor's Wife
Her husband she shares with the whole
congregation
She humbly accepts his intense dedication
In loneliness she kneels to seek consolation
God Bless - The Pastor's Wife
Let us give honor.
Let us give praise.
Let us greet her to show that we care,
for it is her Birthday
Rev. Tia Bowman, Our Pastor's Wife!
CLM is truly blessed to be under the
covering of Reverend Tia. Our lives
have been enriched because of her
love, grace and sacrifice. She
exemplifies elegance & excellence to
the highest level. As she often says,
“God is kissing all over us” and we
know this because He gave her to us.
For that, we are eternally grateful.
Reverend Tia, we wish you a
wonderful birthday and pray you
have many more years filled with
God’s Rich Blessings.
WE LOVE YOU!!!
The LORD bless you, and keep you; The LORD make His face shine
on you, And be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance
on you, And give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26 (NIV)

PRIMARY FOOD
Last month you were introduced to Primary Food and secondary food, and found out that the food on our plate is important but it is just one aspect of our health. This month I would like to discuss Point #7 from
the list, in food for thought.
Point #7: Food is important (critically) to health and wellbeing, I have found it to be secondary to the
level of love and joy that surrounds us in our lives. For instance, I have felt stressed and oppressed in
marriage, I was always giving so much of myself away, that my needs lacked. There was no balance as I was
always giving. What was revealed to me by the Holy Spirit, I was a very co-dependent person. So, food was a
source of comfort to me. Some of you may be able to identify with that. Even in good times when you come
home you often look in the refrigerator for something to eat, when what you are really starved for is a hug, a
kiss, or someone to talk to, an open relationship that feeds your soul and your hunger for living.
Do you remember what it was like when you were a kid? You’d be playing outside with your friends when
your mother called you in to eat dinner. I know that I am dating myself so let me say it like this, when I was
a kid, okay, I would say “but I’m not hungry yet.” My mother would say eat your dinner or you will not be
able to go back outside to play. I would hurry up and eat enough so that I could go back outside to play.
Having said all of that, when your primary food is full, you thrive, actual foods stays secondary, providing
support to be healthy and do the things you love. In closing let me leave you with this: Roman 6:16-17, Do
you not know that when you continually offer yourselves to someone (or something) to do his will you
are the slaves of the one whom you obey, either (slaves) or sin, which leads to righteousness (right
standing with God)?
Give some thought to your primary food this month and really examine the effect it has in your life.

August 2017—Issue 4
I rarely eat beef. My go-to is always chicken, shrimp or fish. Every once in a blue moon I’ll have a
hankering for beef, then I’ll eat it. Lately, I’ve been trying to eat beef more frequently since I’ve been
lifting weights because of the amount of protein (beef has a LOT of protein.) Not saying that chicken or fish doesn’t have protein, beef just has a whole lot. But it also can be fatty. But, that’s where knowing
where to get the right beef from & what type of beef to buy comes into play. We are used to the “bad beef”
because it’s cheaper and it’s all we know. Spend a little extra on the “good beef” .. your body will thank
you for it.
Ingredients:
Meat Marinade:
1/2tsp Baking Soda
1tsp Sugar
1tbsp Cornstarch
1tbsp Liquid Aminos (or low-sodium Soy Sauce) 1tbsp Water
2tbsp Vegetable Oil
1.5lbs Steak, sliced into thin strips
Sauce:
1/2c Liquid Aminos (or low-sodium Soy Sauce)
2tbsp Brown Sugar
4 cloves Garlic, minced
2tbsp Flour
3tbsp Vegetable Oil
2 heads Broccoli, crowns only
What To Do:
1. Whisk together the Meat Marinade ingredients (Baking Soda, Sugar, Cornstarch, Liquid Aminos,
Water & Vegetable Oil) in a large bowl. Toss the steak w/ the marinade to coat. Cover &
refrigerate for 1+ hours.
2. In a small bowl, stir together the Sauce ingredients (Liquid Aminos, Brown Sugar, Garlic &
Flour) until smooth. Set aside.
3. In a large wok or sauté pan, heat 2tbsp of the Vegetable Oil over high heat until shimmering.
Add Broccoli & sauté for 3 minutes, stirring often. Transfer Broccoli to a plate.
4. Reduce heat to medium-high. Carefully add the remaining tbsp of Vegetable Oil to the hot pan.
Add the Marinated Meat & half of the Sauce mix & sauté for 3-4 minutes, stirring often, until the
meat is cooked through and no longer pink.
5. Stir in the Broccoli & remaining Sauce. Sauté 1 minute more. Serve over Brown Rice &
ENJOY!
Don’t eat beef? This recipe can easily be altered with any meat of your choice. Try Chicken & Broccoli, Shrimp & Broccoli, or even Tofu & Broccoli….

Getting Ready for Back To School? It’s that Time again. As Summer ends, a New School Year begins!
There's lots to do as school returns after the summer break ends. All school
-age children love the pleasure of summer: extra family-time, long playdates, late nights, warm nights and sleeping in with no reason to hurry
out the door in the morning, all with the possibility of being electronically
entertained for hours on end. The fact is, though, the summer is coming to
an end. The hot, summer days that were spent enjoying the warm
weather, late nights, and even later mornings will soon be no more and we
will move into the chilly mornings and dark evenings of autumn.
Remember that the end of summer is not the end of fun, just the end of summer fun. Fall brings with it, its own set of enjoyable activities and opportunities to learn new things.
Most children get very excited about heading back to school when they begin shopping for all the new
supplies they will be taking with them. Begin by purchasing your school supplies from the CLM Pantry
Ministry for the year. If your school provides a detailed school supply list, make sure you print it off the
school website. Some of the larger discount chains also provide the lists in their school supply
departments to make it easier for parents and students. Take advantage of the opportunity to stock up on
writing utensils, paper, erasers and notebooks for the home study and/or home office as well.
To help parent and students prepare for going back to school,
the Events Ministry will host a “Back to School” event, on Sunday, August 13, 2017. This event
will help equip parents and/or students with the
necessary planning tools to get them ready for the
upcoming school year. If you are a high school
student you will be able to receive helpful information on how to prepare for college. We will
offer planning tools for creating successful study
habits as well as information on SATs, ACTs, and preparing for
college.
During this event, parents and student will be able to obtain various school supplies
from the Pantry Ministry at discounted prices. Supplies will be available while supplies last.
The Hospitality Ministry will offer and demonstrate different ideas for parents
and students to make simple and healthy snacks for lunch.

The CLM Events Ministry will be hosting a 2017 Cheer/Dance Clinic. This is a 2-session event that will run on
Saturdays and will teach the fundamentals of dance. Upon completion of the clinic, the participants will
perform in a Cheer/Dance Showcase to show off what they have learned. Registration is required, please
complete the Registration/Liability and Release Waiver Form below.
Date: September 16th and September 23rd (weather permits/outside)
