06 The Charrette September 2009

The Oxford Shirt Design Charrette

The charrette was given as a task to explore and understand the construction of the oxford shirt. Then to redesign the shirt with a new set of rules.

In starting the project, I have decided to take apart the original oxfoard shirt by saperating each component (white. yellow and orange

on the left photo). Then I kept the most orinal detail of the oxford shirt as the recognition point i.e. neck collar, botton strap, wrist straps.

For the rest of the shirt I broke it doen to staprs that are 1” wide. Then reconstruct it according to the set of rule which resulting in

changing a 2D to a more dynamic 3D top.

The Rhome Spa

In this project, we started by choosing two verbs and

two materials to test their quality and their relationship

to each other. I chose to rivet and to fold soft ply wood

with latex sheet. The flexibility of latex sheet allows the

wood to bend and keeps it shape, vise versa. Riveting

allows the fold in materials to stay yet flexible enough

to shift around. I also used grid system to create sets

and rules. Wood is a solid material while latex sheet

is more translucent. However, once clustered the

latex heets, they become a sound absorbent material

as well as water resistant. This is way later on they

benefit my spa desig

10 The Phome Spa October 2009

Our location is 500 Park Avenue which is a

glass building in the middle of Manhattan.

Thus, the aim is to create a spa for a high

end costumers. I started by collaging photos

to create programs within the space. The

denser the material the wetter the program.

This then lead to a final design where I

have separated the wet and dry floor. The

entrance and exit area were inspired by the

sweat lodge experience, connecting to the

mother womb.

Pepsico Building

The tunnel like path way allows each user

to experience their individuality and once

reach the grand staircase they officially

inside another world, more connected to

the nature and to their own soul. The shell

of the structure is created by one single

sheet of waterproofing fabric. The material

is changed when the program changes.

The bottom floor of the spa serve as the wet floor where all water related programs are locted in.

The top floor of the spa serves as an entering and exiting point. It also provides all the dry programs

that are seperate from the bottom.

These are 3D renderings of the inside of the spa. I

used soft lighting to exhance the warmth and coziness

of the top, dry, floor. The matterials are reclaimed wood

flooring, felt or cotton fabric that will absorb noise as

well as creating tectures, frosted glass panels and

minimal furniture to lighten up the eye. The entrace

connects the user from the elevator all the way to

the core of the spa. You allow to go further into dry

floor through the changing rooms or move downstairs

towards the wet floor, which has full juice bar service.

The concept of it is simple, top floor is for dry activites

and bottom floor is for wet activites. Members can

enjoy and use downstairs as a get together where the

spa also provides many areas for quite, private time

from the busy city of New York. The luxurious you get

right on Park avenue, just steps from Central Park.

16 Chair Design September 2009

18”

16”

This fabric chair was inspired by the honeycomb shape

which is a very strong self supporting structure. It also allows

the material to expand and collapse when needed. I have

designed a pair of template sheets which allow users to slide

and slot in the buttons to create their seating device. With

this design, the seat can easily grow into a long bench, table

or a room divider. Suitable material is industrial felt because

of it’s durability as well as the strength and thickness.

Kiratsuda ChirathivaT 17 Exhibition Space

In this project we are assigned a chair to come

up with its own exhibition space. I worked with

the Louise Ghost Chair which designed by

Philippe Starck. Its uniqueness is the clear

material and the process of making one

chair, a single mold injection. The curvature

of the overall space created from the contour

of the chair’s top view. A secondary shell

has added to symbolize these Louise Ghost

chairs stacking on top of one another. Another

feature is the mirroring floor which creates the

floating feeling to the space. Within the wall,

LED light is installed to create mood changes

showing how these chairs will adapt to all

environments.

Analysis

In this case study, we have analyzed three different kind

of arts; Painting by Wasilly Kandinsky, Literature by Alan

Lightman, Einstein’s Dreams and song interpretation by

Thenolious Monk. I have learned to interpret story, rhythm,

character, mood and depth into architecture language

and terms in order to create a conceptual idea for further

projects

20 Periodical Library April 2010

This is the project where we turn

the existing site into a periodical

library. The concept is based of

the previous pages of analyzing

arts. Since the site is on Broadway

in the heart of Soho, New York, I

picked to analyzed people. Which

then can be categorized into 4

main groups; employee, experts/

members, students/researchers

and tourists. Hence, they allow the

overlapping of each group interest

and at the same time separate them

from each other to minimize time

used yet maximize their benefits.

In differentiating each group,

materials were selected to do

so up on their quali t ies and

characteristics. Ceiling height and

floor level were the second element

that automatically separate people

as well as atmosphere from one

program to the next.

26 Other Half Summer 2009 - Present

This project was created by a group of young

enthusiastic teenagers from Thailand. Our goal

was to find ways to fight poverty in Thailand

especially for children fighting with hunger

on their daily bases. We hosted a successful

fundraiser as well as donation drop off at center

locations throuhout Bangkok. With many help

and generousity from Thai people, we had

a great success and are still fighting to help

these young kids. We were supported and

regcognized by medias in Thaiand and hopefully

in the eye of the world. In my role, I come up

wtih a concept, ‘Fund with Food’. This concept

is simple, with the help from Thai restaurants

in NYC, one signature dish with be added onto

the menu for the ‘Other Half’ project in order

to rasie money for the children. The profit will

go directly to ‘The Other Half’ foundation. Not

only that costumers learn more about Thai food,

they participate by order the dish and help poor

children who suffer to survive in their country.

28 Directed Reserch December 2011

In directed reserach, I have chosen interwoven,

weaving and intergrated as my words. From

there, my choice of location then be, The High

Line Park. I find this abandon park fascinating

and is a perfect choice to my wordings. The

High Line has many years of history for the

New York meat packing district. It weaves

along the Hundson River on 10th Ave from as

low as Gansovort St to midotwn, 38th Street.

The new use of this abandon park makes is

a much pleasant site for the city. Also, much

faster and safer path for commuters during

rush hours because we do not have to worry

about the traffic lights. Since this railway

spread over 25 blocks, it allows visitors

to see the change in demography of each

neighborhood. It allows itself it intergrated

into each neighborhood without disturbing it’s

original context. The Architects did amazing

job interwoven the old railroad details with the

new constructin. Moreover, by turning it into an

elevated park, they found the perfect harmony

to interweave nature with man-made material.

On this page, the diagrams

shows different desity as well as hieght

various of the plant along the highline

park. The type of plants also changes

when entering the new pace of the park.

The architects try to combine made

made exisitng strustute which is steels

colums, wooded floor and steel train

trials with the oraganic forms which is

the plants that were carefully selected.

Below is layers of man-

made structure and oraganic forms

Methodology - To document the Hing Line Park using photographs to understand the neighbourhood as well as the pavment

and plants on the park over a time sequnce. Then, collage and weave them together to understand the relationship of one

subject to another.

Above is a diagram of diffrent weaving patterns connecting

together. I use the same technique with photographs

from the High Line on the opposite page to create the

continuous experience.

38 Unfolding Kiddergarten May 2013

The concept is the infinite outcome

of a play learn experience. I have

created a system where children

will play and learn as they interact

more with each other as well as with

material. Classrooms can be combine

in infinate ways just like playing with

legos. Each morning children will

come together select their group

and decide what they likd to do for

the day. We are an open classroom

system with no age differences.

Each kid will be evaluate upso his

performance. This system allows an

open classroom as well as privacy

area if needed for study. The offices

are located on the North wall isolated

from the creative playground.

40 3D MODELING March 2013

These are 3D rendering of the Barcelona Parvilion

using 3D Max program. Each photo shows different

angle of the pavilion and also at a different time

of the day. Here we study lightints and angle of

the cameras to give the best presentation witht

the most information. By using 3D program, you

acheive better perspective of the space as well

as how lighting affects the materials. These are

my best renderings from the projec that are able

to capture the quality of horizontal panel versus

vetical chrome coumns, as well as the mix use of

materials and how the pool reflected the pavilion

during sunser and night time.
