COURT SACRED HEARTS #864, will meet on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Sacred Hearts Church Hall. We will have a guest speaker, Susan Kanoff from UNCOMMON THREADS, Lawrence to tell us about her program to help women dress for job interviews etc., and what we can do to help. Please remember to bring one or two items of non-perishable food for the Sacred Hearts Food Pantry. Our Hostesses this month under the direction of Lois Chadwick, Chairwoman, are Claire Golden, Patti Richard, Betty Comeau and Cheryl Lupi. Come, and bring a friend! “Catholic Daughters in Service to God’s People.” FROM OUR CHAPLAIN Dear Friends, This weekend the Church celebrates the Epiphany of the Lord. The three kings bring gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to Jesus, the newborn King. Gold and frankincense are gifts usually offered to God while myrrh is a gift that portends Jesus' passion and death. Gift giving is part of our Christmas celebrations. Gifts are given to family and friends for many reasons. Some gifts are given to say thank you for friendship while other gift giving conveys gratitude for a kindness shown. Employers often give bonus gifts this time of year as a show of gratitude to employees' contribution to the company. Familial gifts are given as a sign of love and affection of one family member to another. In this gift giving season I invite you to think about less tangible gifts that we could offer Jesus as a sign of deeper commitment to our spiritual journey. Some ideas: greater sense of gratitude for the blessings of life, a more generous heart that is moved to help others who are in need or suffering in some way, more patience with people we love and care for or an increased awareness of the value of the gift of time shared with others. The list is endless. Personally, I'm going to work on the gift of time shared with friends and family. I am going to try a little harder to "be in the moment" with them and not be "elsewhere" in thought, not to rush conversations, become a better listener and not to over schedule my days so I limit time spent with others. The gift of time is a precious gift to share with others and in the long run, outshines and brings more joy and contentment than any material gift we could give or receive! I pray that 2018 be a year filled with blessings and good health for you and your families. Looking forward to seeing you at our next CDA meeting! Thanks for all you do for Sacred Hearts Parish. FROM OUR CHAPLAIN Dear Friends,
This weekend the Church celebrates the Epiphany of the
Lord. The three kings bring gifts of gold, frankincense and
myrrh to Jesus, the newborn King. Gold and frankincense are
gifts usually offered to God while myrrh is a gift that portends
Jesus' passion and death. Gift giving is part of our Christmas
celebrations. Gifts are given to family and friends for many
reasons. Some gifts are given to say thank you for friendship
while other gift giving conveys gratitude for a kindness
shown. Employers often give bonus gifts this time of year as a
show of gratitude to employees' contribution to the company.
Familial gifts are given as a sign of love and affection of one
family member to another.
In this gift giving season I invite you to think about less
tangible gifts that we could offer Jesus as a sign of deeper
commitment to our spiritual journey. Some ideas: greater
sense of gratitude for the blessings of life, a more generous
heart that is moved to help others who are in need or suffering
in some way, more patience with people we love and care for
or an increased awareness of the value of the gift of time
shared with others. The list is endless. Personally, I'm going to
work on the gift of time shared with friends and family. I am
going to try a little harder to "be in the moment" with them
and not be "elsewhere" in thought, not to rush conversations,
become a better listener and not to over schedule my days so I
limit time spent with others. The gift of time is a precious gift
to share with others and in the long run, outshines and brings
more joy and contentment than any material gift we could give
or receive!
I pray that 2018 be a year filled with blessings and good
health for you and your families. Looking forward to seeing
you at our next CDA meeting! Thanks for all you do for

STATE HAPPENINGS
FROM YOUR STATE REGENT
New Year's blessings to all in Court Sacred Hearts. As we begin our adventures for 2018 let us remember to include being warm and welcoming in all of our actions. Hospitality is a trademark of Catholic Daughters. We are really very good at it. But do we remember to extend this hospitality in all of the little things we do for our family and friends? Never stop asking how can I bring someone closer to God? Maybe the answer is to bring them to Catholic Daughters. God Bless, Tricia
TAKING ORDERS FOR CDA SILK SCARVES! Many of you who did not purchase a silk scarf the first time or were not a member at that time, have shown an interest in purchasing one. They are great to wear to any CDA occasion, especially wakes and funerals. The cost is $25.00 and enhances your wardrobe immeasurably. There will be a sign-up sheet at the meeting, or email [email protected] if you would like to order one.
