December 6, 2020 Preparation— what you will need for worship today: • A candle • Food and drink you can use in communion. Bread or crackers work. Juice is great, but water is fine, too. INTRO: What word(s) describe the holiday season for you? “The holidays are a time of…” How would you finish that sentence? I say “holiday season” because Thanksgiving and Christmas seem to run together, with Advent in the middle. Thanksgiving signals the beginning of Christmas shopping and decorating for many of us. Opening We light ONE CANDLE. Light one candle for peace. Because the world is broken and the wait is long, but we refuse to be frozen by fear. Peace comes in fits and starts- a deep breath a courageous truth a humble heart. “Prepare the way,” she whispers, “for the Lord comes to make the broken whole.” So we light one candle, because it only takes one: Christ with us.
