Get your toddler moving today!Facts from the Ministry of Health Promotion and Sport • Since 1975 childhood obesity has tripled

• Canadian kids spend about six hours every weekday and seven hours daily on weekends watching TV, chatting online or playing video games—essentially being inactive

Lets Change this!Children and youth need to move more! Encourage them to join in activities they enjoy. An active

lifestyle with at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day brings health benefits now, and helps them

grow up to become healthy, active adults.

Register for a Recreation Program Today! Visit a County Park! Get Out and Get Active!Visit the Ministry of Health Promotion and Sport at www.mhp.gov.on.ca for more information!

the roadway. A main break can cause the loss of substantial amounts ofwater and damage the roadway as well.

How do I know if my water meter is reading properly? Could there be a leak?If you suspect you may have a leak, turn off any water consumingappliances inside and outside of your home. Read your meter. If the testdial (triangle) on your meter is spinning, water is flowing through themeter. You may also want to monitor your meter reads overnight. Takea reading before you go to bed and a reading first thing in the morningbefore you use any water. If the numbers have changed, this wouldindicate that there is a leak somewhere in your home. Remember thattoilets are the number one source of leaks!Should your recorded water use change suddenly for no obvious reason(lawn watering, more people in the home, away for a long period oftime), report this to Brant County Power Billing Office so that it can beinvestigated.Should you have specific questions regarding billings and collections forwater or wastewater, you can contact Brant County Power at 519-442-2215

.

Are there any Water Conservation measures in place? There is a water restriction By-law. The County By-Law restricts outdoorwater use to every other day between the hours of 7 am to 9 am and7 pm to 9 pm. Even-numbered municipal addresses are permitted towater on even-numbered days. Odd-numbered municipal addresses arepermitted to water on odd-numbered days. There are some exceptionsfor new planting. For more details you can call the Water Division

Where does municipal water come from? The County of Brant obtains its Municipal water from wells.Groundwater is pumped from the aquifer and then pipes deliver thewater to homes within the Municipality. Groundwater comes from rain, snow, sleet, and hail that soak into the ground.

If I have concerns about unusual taste, odouror colour of my drinking water, who can I call?If you obtain your water from a private well contact the Brant CountyHealth Unit at 519-753-4937.If you obtain your water from the municipal system watermain repairs, construction, flushing, or other maintenance work in your area can causesome rust and scale products which normally adhere to the inside of thewatermain to break away. This sediment disturbance may cause water toappear dirty. Open fire hydrants can also cause this temporaryinconvenience. Though this discoloured water is safe, it is unappealing, and it can stain your laundry. If this condition occurs in your system, allowa cold tap to run for five to ten minutes until the water clears. If thecondition persists or you wish to speak to someone in regards to waterquality, contact the County of Brant Water Division. If you experience an internal problem such as a broken water pipe in yourhome or building, you can shut the water off at your main shut-off valveusually located in the basement. If the shut-of valve is broken or you areunable to turn it off, contact the Water Division to shut off the water atthe curb stop. It is the homeowner’s responsibility to repair the insideshut-off valve.Should you ever notice a continuous flow of water in the road pleasereport it as soon as possible. Watermain breaks may surface as a leak on
