Here are some simple steps to make it easier for everyone in your home to recycle the right way: •Get two containers: Set them up side by side and label one for trash and one for recycling. Remember to only line your trash container with a plastic bag, your recycling container doesn’t need one. •Place labeled containers throughout your home: The more containers throughout your home, the more likely you will be to use them! If a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, there will be no delays. Still Spring Cleaning? Let Us Help! Customers can schedule two bulky item pick-ups per calendar year at no additional charge. These items are picked up on service days and need to be placed at the curb by 6 a.m. in order to be retrieved. To schedule a bulky item pick-up, please contact Waste Management at (805) 922-2121 at least 24 hours in advance of your service day. Mattress Recycling Customers can drop off mattresses for free at the Waste Management/Health Sanitation Service location at 1850 West Betteravia Road in Santa Maria, Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 97 Commerce Drive in Buellton, Wednesday through Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (closed 11:30 - noon). These locations are participating collection sites for Bye Bye Mattress. Residents can drop off up to 5 mattresses per person, per day. A mattress recycled through the Bye Bye Mattress program is broken up into four main components – steel, foam, wood and fibers. These are used to make new products like carpet padding, steel products, filter media, and automotive insulation. Give your old mattress new life by recycling it today!
