What’s the Problem?

• Physical Inactivity• Used to identify people who do not reach

recommended physical activity daily

• Causes many different diseases from heart disease to stroke, colon cancer, and diabetes

• Can develop high blood pressure, high cholesterol, leads to obesity

• 300,000 deaths occur yearly due to physical inactivity

Barriers • Do not have time • Inconvenient• No motivation • Not enjoyable• Boring • Not confident in the

ability to exercise

• Fear of getting hurt, or previously injured

• Not good at setting person goals

• No encouragement from family and friends

• Goal: • Improve health fitness and quality of life through

daily physical activity

• Objectives: • Reduce the proportion of adults who engage in no

leisure time physical activity • Baseline: 36.2% in 2008 • Target: 32.6% in 2020

• Creation or Enhanced Access to Place for Physical Activity Combined with Informational Outreach Activities (Recommended) • Joins forces with worksites, coalitions,

• Beneficial outcomes are increased physical activity, fitness, and mental health

to women and elderly than to men and young adults who more inclined towards sports activities
