Touch Points

We always count by 5’s when we are using touch points on the coins

Each touch point is worth 5 cents

A touch point is a “dot” or “dots” on a coin

Each type of coin has a different number of touch points depending on how much that coin is worth

Nickel

This is a nickel

A nickel has 1 touch point

A nickel is worth 5¢

We say:

“5¢”

Dime

This is a dime

A dime is worth 10¢

A dime has 2 touch points

We say:

“5¢, 10¢”

Quarter

This is a quarter

A quarter is worth 25¢

A quarter has 5 touch points

We say:

“5¢, 10¢, 15¢, 20¢, 25¢”

Penny

This is a penny.

A penny is worth 1¢

A penny does not have any touch points because it is less than 5 ¢

After you count all of your touch points

you must remember to count any pennies!
