The Council for Women and Youth In- volvement Advisory Board is also excit- ed to welcome 3 new board members! Anne Lasley, Candace Flanagan, and Julie Hopfer were sworn in by Jusce Newby at the October Board Meeng. The 2016 Purple Ribbon of Excellence Award was pre- sented to three domesc and sexual violence agencies by the Domesc Violence Commission at the October Board meeng. Congratulaons to Domesc Violence Shelter and Services, Inc. of Wilmington, Orange County Rape Crisis Center, and REACH of Macon County on winning this years award! Candlelight Vigil held for Domestic Violence Victims
The Department of Administra-
tion and the North Carolina
Council for Women and Youth
Involvement (NCCFW/YI) hosted
a Candlelight Vigil in observance
of Domestic Violence Aware-
ness Month. The Candlelight
was held Thursday October 27, 2016 at the State Capitol Building.
Kathryn Johnston, Secretary of the Department of Administra-
tion, Gale McKoy Wilkins, Executive Director for NCCFW/YI,
Charles Campbell II, Chairman of the NC Domestic Violence Com-
mission and Christin Hewlin, Author and Survivor, spoke about
domestic violence in NC and recognized the 53 people who lost
