Message from the President of City Council
On behalf of my colleagues on the Denver City Council, I welcome you to the legislative branch of the City & County of Denver. The thirteen of us together are proud to represent the roughly 600,000 residents of this great city – eleven of us elected from our own specific geographical district; two of us elected by the city at-large.
In addition to working directly with our individual constituents, local businesses, and other groups and interests that make up our diverse community, each of us also serves on two of four legislative standing committees. These committees are responsible for managing the legislative workflow and agency oversight for the different areas of activity of city government. They also provide a forum for new ideas to be brought forward and developed, and new issues to be presented and grappled with. Working together with our partners in the executive branch, we ensure that our city government continues to meet the challenges we face and serve our Denver community in the most effective, efficient, and innovative way possible.
Once again, I welcome you to the legislative branch of Denver government. Please come to our Monday night Council meetings, or to any of our weekly committee meetings. All our meetings are open to the public. You can peruse our website for items of interest or concern to you, watch our meetings and deliberations on Denver Channel 8, and even watch previous meetings from the Denver City Council website. All bills and many other materials are available on our website.
We look forward to getting a lot done for you – and, we hope, with you – in the coming year.
Chris Nevitt, PresidentDenver City Council
