And I want to thank each of you who has helped with the Lenten Dinners either by donating your time or just enjoying Friday night dinner with your brother Knights. Mike Kerr, Paul Castanova and John Cesta did an outstanding job last Sunday with the membership drive. One of 8419’s best in at least the last 10 years. Mike, Paul and John had 8 form 100s filled out and 12 names to follow up with. On the 15 th of April, the 3 rd Tuesday of the month, at the Faith House, John will be showing a DVD on what it is to be a Knight. We will also be doing interviews the same night. Refreshments will be served. If you know of anyone else that’s interested in becoming a Knight, please bring them. Also, please join us if you are able to help. John Harduby and John Kapsos finished up the Tootsie Roll Drive March31st. We ended up with a total just shy of $4500! I believe this to be one of the best Tootsie Roll Drives, if not the best. Thank you to all the brothers who help to make this Tootsie Roll Drive so successful. This Tuesday is a very important meeting. We will be voting on the motion that was made to purchase a sonogram machine for Birthline/Lifeline. I hope every Knight of 8419 will make every effort to come out to vote on this very important purchase. I want to restate that it is my opinion that as a charitable organization, we carry too much money in our reserve funds. We carry approximately $36,000 in our reserve funds, in addition to the money in our working fund. We have a unique opportunity to do a great deed with $17,000 of our reserve funds. We can give a much needed sonogram machine to Birthline/Lifeline. Supreme puts up half the cost and our $17,000 would be the other half. For every sonogram machine donated to Birthline/Lifeline, 2 lives a month, for each sonogram machine, are saved. Mothers that are considering an abortion are able to see that they have a living child inside them. This helps them make the decision to keep the child. As I stand at the podium and look at the pictures of all our past Grand Knights, and the brothers of 8419, this purchase would be from all of us. From those who started our council, to all of us today. For this reason, I would like the sonogram machine to be from 8419. Brothers, this is our opportunity to live out our Catholic Faith, to help to protect the unborn. Please give this prayerful consideration. It is also that time of year we put together our slate of officers for 2014 2015. Officer positions are open to all 3 rd Degree Knights. Officer positions with descriptions will be read aloud at the next regular meeting. Nominations to follow. It is an honor to serve as your Grand Knight, with a group of men so dedicated to Christ and the Knights of Columbus. Thank you, Yours in Christ, Sean McDaniel Grand Knight 8419

Please keep Nancy Wall in your prayers. Today she fell through her attic roof and broke her ankle and is on

crutches.

Brother Peter Paglia in our prayers. Peter is age 59 with Liver cancer awaiting a liver transplant in Annapolis, Maryland. Doctors must find him one in the next 9 months before his condition takes a turn for the worse. Miguel Gomez & family

THANK you FOR your prayers

Brother John Fierfelder was awarded this honor at the March meeting for his work on several projects this month. His dedication to our Council fund raising has been truly awesome. This photo was taken at an earlier award ceremony for his efforts on another project.

PRAYERS & GRATITUDE KNIGHT OF THE MONTH

John Fierfelder

FAMILY OF THE MONTH John and Marilyn Kapsos

Brother John Kapsos and his wife, Marilyn were honored for their efforts for many of Council 8419 fund raising efforts and the time they have spent on our behalf.

Brother John Kapsos serves as Warden on our Board. Pictures of Marilyn Kapsos were unavailable.

Brother Mike Kerr addressed the 11 AM Mass at St. Rita on Sunday, March 30th about membership in the Knights of Columbus and what it meant to him. After Mass he was available to the men who expressed interest. There was no doubt that his eloquent presentation had generated some interest. (Left) Brothers Horace Joseph, John Cesta also helped at the Membership table.

Brothers volunteering their time to work in the kitchen, preparing food and serving the tables, PGK Ken Deischer, John Hardaby, ever present in every effort along with Joe Gesmundo, Rick Campione, Glenn Brinson, Paul Vowles, Manny Zapata just to name a few of the many Brothers that have served this effort. This is what makes this Council 8419 a success. The unselfish volunteering of time, talent and knowledge has its own reward for each of the Volunteers but we all benefit from their efforts.

Every Friday night during Lent, Brother Knights from Council 8419 gathered to offer Lenten Supper and fellowship to all that wanted to participate in this tradition.

The dining room was always busy with people & energetic servers.

The activity in the he dining area was hectic and judging from the amount of empty dishes the food was outstanding.
