Tennyson Taken Off. The latest number of Buck wood's Magazine contains a new version nf Old Mother Hob- bard, a burlesqe entitled ' Slr Tray: an Arthu¬ rian Idyll," which very aptly hits Tennyson In his vulnerable points. Here ls a specimen : The widowed dame or Hubbard's auclent line Tamed ti her cupboard, cornered .m^lewlse Betwixt this walt aud that, lu quest or aught To satisfy the cravings or Sir rr*y, Prlcted e ired companion of her solitude, Red-spotted, dlriy-wulte, and bare of rib. Who followed at ner high and pattering heels; Prayer lo hts eye. prayer tn bis slinklug galt, Prayer m bin pendulous pulsating tall. Wide on Hs creaking Jaws tevolved the door, Tb« cupboard ya»ned. deep-throated, tninty set For teem, with ancient bottles, c&nlsrers, And plates of various patterns, bine or white; Deep ia tbe void «hs thrusts her no- ked nose, Peering near-sighted for the wlshed-for bone, Wniie her short robe of samite, tilted high, The thrifty darning of ner hone revraled- The pointed feature travelled o'er the de.f Greasing its tip. bu: bone or bread found none. Wherefure Sir Tray abode still dlnnerless. Licking his paws beneath the spinning wheel, And meditating much on savory meats. THE ALB-LUTE BOAB. -first Train from Charlotte to Spartan- burg--Popular Rejoicings-The Court of Sessions After the Liquor-Dealers. 1PKOM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) SPARTA>BURG, March 31, 1873. United thia day, by the honorable the presi¬ dent and directors of ibe Atlanta aud Rich¬ mond Air-Line Hallway, the 1 own of Spartan- burg, Bomb Carolina, to the City of Charlotte, North Carolina, in the 6trong bands of rail¬ road marriage. This union was celebrated by an excursion traía leaving the home of the bride at 8 o'clock A. M. and reaching the happy groom at 3 o'clock P. M., and was re¬ ceived with hearty'congratulations by the populace and welcome speeches by the Hon. Gabriel Cannon and Simpson Bobo, with re¬ sponses by tbe Hon. the mayor ot Charlotte. Soon after the arrival of the train the fal r ones of the town decorated the euüines hand¬ somely wlLh wreaths and flowers.fresh made and pulled. Salutes were fired from the bat¬ teries near by, and the town bells raog merri¬ ly. There was an excellent dinner prepared by mine host of the Palmetto, given to those who accompanied the train, by the citizens of the town, and a general smile of pleasure and satisfaction ended, lor the present, the grand dinner. In the future the same train will run on schedule time, leaving the City of Char¬ lotte on Mondavs, Wednesdays' and Fridays até o'clock: A.M., and arrive at Spartanburg on the same days at 3 o'clock P. M. Return¬ ing, leave Spartanburg on Tuesdays, Thurs¬ days and Saturdays, at 8 o'clock A. M., and arrive at Charlotte at 3 o'clock P. M. The Court of Sessions opened for the spring term this morning, Judge M. Hoses presiding, whose charge to the new g-and jury was plain and lo rei ble, and so uttered that they could not well misunderstand their duties. Be held that alt licenses for retailing spirit- t&uB liquors, granted heretofore by town coun- cils, county commissioners and city authori¬ ties, except ander th» special provisions of the sot ol 1849, known as the Tupper law, were nnii and vo.d, .and the parlies BO retail¬ ing were llablé~ tu indictment in the Court of Sessions. This created quite a shaking among the dry- bones of the dispensers ol old klug alcohol, and the clerk ot the two boards- town connell and county commissioners- bad to wield a swift pen in making ont applications for licenses to conform to the law, daring the balance ol the day, as lt was understood their sins for the past would be forgiven if their acts lor the future were In ail respects legal and corred. The court ad¬ journed at 12 M., as sufficient business was not ready for action, and the urana jury had not time to report on new bills just given out. It will resume labor to-morrow at ten, when a variety of misdemeanors will come up lor trial. Only one capital case Is on Ute docket, which la that of thé Stale vs. Columbus Mitchell, for the homicide ol his uncle, which has hitherto been reported In yonr paper. We regret 'to add that our accommodating and excellent conductor on the Spartanburg and Union Railroad bad his thtiths and leg severely crushed and some of the lingers ot his band cut off, in attempt DI; to couple two cars on their way up by the last train. The latest number of Buck wood's Magazinecontains a new version nf Old Mother Hob-bard, a burlesqe entitled ' Slr Tray: an Arthu¬rian Idyll," which very aptly hits Tennyson Inhis vulnerable points. Here ls a specimen :

THE ALB-LUTE BOAB.

-first Train from Charlotte to Spartan-burg--Popular Rejoicings-The Court

of Sessions After the Liquor-Dealers.1PKOM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)

SPARTA>BURG, March 31, 1873.

United thia day, by the honorable the presi¬dent and directors of ibe Atlanta aud Rich¬mond Air-Line Hallway, the 1 own of Spartan-burg, Bomb Carolina, to the City of Charlotte,North Carolina, in the 6trong bands of rail¬road marriage. This union was celebrated byan excursion traía leaving the home of thebride at 8 o'clock A. M. and reaching thehappy groom at 3 o'clock P. M., and was re¬ceived with hearty'congratulations by thepopulace and welcome speeches by the Hon.Gabriel Cannon and Simpson Bobo, with re¬

sponses by tbe Hon. the mayor ot Charlotte.Soon after the arrival of the train the fal r

ones of the town decorated the euüines hand¬somely wlLh wreaths and flowers.fresh madeand pulled. Salutes were fired from the bat¬teries near by, and the town bells raog merri¬ly. There was an excellent dinner preparedby mine host of the Palmetto, given to thosewho accompanied the train, by the citizens ofthe town, and a general smile of pleasure andsatisfaction ended, lor the present, the granddinner. In the future the same train will runon schedule time, leaving the City of Char¬lotte on Mondavs, Wednesdays' and Fridaysaté o'clock: A.M., and arrive at Spartanburgon the same days at 3 o'clock P. M. Return¬ing, leave Spartanburg on Tuesdays, Thurs¬days and Saturdays, at 8 o'clock A. M., andarrive at Charlotte at 3 o'clock P. M.The Court of Sessions opened for the spring

term this morning, Judge M. Hoses presiding, whose charge to the new g-and jury was

plain and lo rei ble, and so uttered that theycould not well misunderstand their duties.Be held that alt licenses for retailing spirit-t&uB liquors, granted heretofore by town coun-cils, county commissioners and city authori¬ties, except ander th» special provisions ofthe sot ol 1849, known as the Tupper law, were nnii and vo.d, .and the parlies BO retail¬ing were llablé~ tu indictment in the Court ofSessions. This created quite a shaking among the

dry- bones of the dispensers ol old klugalcohol, and the clerk ot the two boards-town connell and county commissioners-bad to wield a swift pen in makingont applications for licenses to conform to thelaw, daring the balance ol the day, as lt was

understood their sins for the past would beforgiven if their acts lor the future were In ailrespects legal and corred. The court ad¬journed at 12 M., as sufficient business wasnot ready for action, and the urana jury hadnot time to report on new bills just given out.It will resume labor to-morrow at ten, when a

variety of misdemeanors will come up lortrial. Only one capital case Is on Ute docket, which la that of thé Stale vs. ColumbusMitchell, for the homicide ol his uncle, whichhas hitherto been reported In yonr paper. We regret 'to add that our accommodating

and excellent conductor on the Spartanburgand Union Railroad bad his thtiths and legseverely crushed and some of the lingers othis band cut off, in attempt DI; to couple twocars on their way up by the last train.
