Vacuum Loading
SITA’s vehicle fleet integrates high-powered industrial vacuum technology designed for hazardous and non-hazardous waste recovery. Vacuum loading offers an efficient method of waste collection and disposal in a controlled and responsible manner.
Vacuum loading is common across a number of mining and heavy industrial applications. These include cleaning environmental spills and hydrocarbons, rocks and dust, drains and pits, oil and sewage, electrical cabinets, tanks, as well as dirt extraction on mining equipment such as draglines and trucks.
Our vehicles are EPA/DEC compliant and our operators are licensed and trained to treat and handle liquid and solid wastes safely, in accordance with government legislation.
High Pressure Water Blasting
We understand mine site requirements and the importance of maintaining clean industrial equipment and infrastructure. Our targeted, high-pressure water blasting capabilities deliver fast and cost-effective results with minimal impact on the environment.
Operating with a water conservation rate of 30 litres per minute, we utilise HPW pumps that are highly effective in applications such as concrete, hydro-demolition and cold cutting of steelwork.
Our equipment is also used to clean heavy machinery and light vehicles, workshops and fixed infrastructure, wash bay areas, roads, pathways, tanks and pipes, as well as removing paint and rust.
Shutdown Pre-Clean
As part of our wide range of water blasting services, we specialise in shutdown pre-clean across mine sites involving regulated water pressure operated by our experienced personnel.
Girth and Gear Clean-Up
Proper degreasing agents, girth gear guards, pre-start checks and the complete enclosure of specific clean-up areas, all form part of our comprehensive procedures which aim to maximise safety with minimal downtime.
Non-Destructive Digging (NDD)
Non-Destructive Digging is a form of vacuum excavation, which minimises the risk of damage to underground power and utility services such as electrical and fibre optic cables, telecommunications, gas, sewer and stormwater.
Our NDD technology, combined with potholing, identifies and marks the location of specific assets preventing the risk of damage during the excavation process, and also facilitates greater operator productivity and efficiency.
Tank Cleaning
Supported by industry-leading technology, SITA offers high pressure cleaning of both internal and external tank surfaces. We know effective tank cleaning plays a vital role in minimising tank downtime and waste disposal costs, subsequently optimising resource recovery.
We utilise specialised pumps which quickly descale tanks and vessels with no damage incurred.
Our vehicles and equipment are compliant with all relevant health, safety and environmental regulations, particularly procedures associated with working in confined spaces. We also limit personnel exposure and manned entry into tanks.

10 — MINING & RESOURCES
Organic waste collected from mining operations can be sent to one of our many Advanced Resource Recovery Facilities where raw material undergoes a strict sorting and separation process. The recovered organics are refined, screened and converted into quality compost.
With our network of hi-tech facilities we create specialist products for use in mine site rehabilitation, aimed at effectively dealing with challenges created from the mining process, including the creation of large volumes of nutrient-poor waste rock, subsoils and other wastes which need to be stabilized and revegetated.
SITA’s Rehab-ARRT is utilised in mine sites during different stages of rehabilitation such as landform reconstruction, topsoil
management, transplanting, seeding and regeneration.
Rehab-ARRT facilitates the rehabilitation process by:
• Stimulating plant growth by increasing organic matter and microbial activity in the soil
• Buffering soil pH and providing a natural liming agent, which can reduce the need for high applications of gypsum on dispersive soils
• Enhancing water holding quality
• Improving quality of nutrient poor overburden
• Improving soil structure, moisture retention, and soil aeration
• Supporting rehabilitation of pasture species and native vegetation
• Providing a combination of readily available and slow release nutrients suitable for seeding and pasture establishment
• Suppressing the need for separate and repeated fertiliser applications.
Our range of organic composts, mulches and soils provide an environmentally responsible solution to chemical products and ensure nutrients are returned to the earth to promote future plant growth.
ONE OF THE GREATEST MODERN DAY CHALLENGES IS TO ‘CLOSE THE LOOP’ ON RESOURCE USAGE. WE WORK TOWARDS THIS GOAL WITH OUR SMART, RELIABLE SOLUTIONS FOR COLLECTION, SORTING, RE-USE, RECYCLING, TREATMENT AND SAFE DISPOSAL OF WASTE GENERATED BY OUR CUSTOMERS.
