email [email protected]/[email protected] ©2015 IEV Group All Rights Reserved OXIFREE Corrosion Control Solution Case Study: Application on Offshore Platform for flange protection Petronas Carigali Vietnam Limited RUBY FIELD, VIETNAM Background Petronas Carigali Vietnam Ltd (“PCVL”), a subsidiary of Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd, is engaged in oil and gas exploration and production activities in Vietnam. PCVL is the operator of Ruby field, Block 1 and Block 2, offshore Vietnam and holds 85% stake of the field while PetroVietnam holds the remaining 15%. The Challenge PCVL offshore production assets have been suffering from ongoing corrosion due to continuous exposure to harsh marine environment such as salt water, salt mist and UV rays. IEV has been approached by PVCL provide a cost effective and safe solution to prevent and control corrosion on flanges, bolted and welded components on its facility. The Solution The Oxifree Corrosion Prevention System ‐ Oxifree TM198 coating was the recommended solution to address this problem. Oxifree was applied to encapsulate all problem areas, bolts, nuts and flanges, on the RDBP‐B Platform to prevent further corrosion. Oxifree TM198 is a long term anti corrosion solution which also reduces offshore maintenance requirements. Prior to coating, a minimum surface preparation was done including cleaning the bolts, nuts and flanges’ surfaces from grease and moisture before Oxifree TM198 was applied. This is done to isolate the atmospheric environment to prevent further ingress of water and/or oxygen that are the agents for corrosion. The Product Oxifree TM198 is a sprayable polymeric resin coating for the protection of metallic components. It contains organic corrosion inhibitors, reusable and provides protection against all corrosive contaminants. Oxifree is enviromentally friendly, easy to strip,re‐usable and recyclable with no harmful chemicals.
