[email protected]Presidents Report First,we had the fires, then the floods, now the threat of Corona Vrus. We managed the fires and the floods and now if we are vigilant,we can also manage the Virus. Below are a few simple measures to help protect yourself and others. WASH YOUR HANDS FREQUENTLY-Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with soap and water or an alcohol- based hand sanitiser WHY-When someone coughs or sneezes, they spray small liquid droplets from their nose & mouth which may contain a virus. AVOID TOUCHING EYES,NOSE AND MOUTH-While it may seem a hard habit to break, it is important to make every initiative to avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth which may contain a virus.WHY-Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can make you sick. PRACTICE RESPIRATORY HYGINE-Make sure you and the people around you followgood respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with a tissue or your bent elbow when you cough or sneeze. Then safely dispose of the used tissue immediately.WHY-Droplets can spread viruses.By following good respiratory hygiene you protect the people around you. If we all follow these simple measures we can carry on as normal. Therefore,if you are feeling unwell please do not come to the meetings, also if you have knowingly been in contact with someone who has the virus do not come to the meetings. It is important from a social perspective that we carry on having our meetings as being out and about promotes emotional wellbing, and Fun Friendship and Fellowship is what Probus is all about As you know we have received nominations for all the Committee positions, and these will be voted for at our annual General Meeting next week Thursday 26th March following our General Meeting. So if you did not want to attend in case you were "roped into a position" you can rest assured it will not happen, so please attend and celebrate our 2nd birthday together. It has been decided for hygiene reasons not to serve morning tea at the meeting, so we will be having our Birthday Cake at the Bulli Workers Club following our birthday lunch.

To those of you who have paid for “9 to 5, the Musical”, scheduled to play at the Lyric
Theatre, Pyrmont at 2p.m. on Wednesday April 22nd, I’m sure that the Lyric holds more than 500
patrons and will therefore have to cancel or reschedule its April performances. Therefore the same
instructions apply to you.
Instead I’m proposing an outing to Doyles Restaurant at Watson’s Bay on Thursday April
23rd. We’ll use our OPAL cards to catch the second front carriage of the 9.37a.m. train from Wol-
longong to Central, change for Circular Quay and take the ferry to Watson’s Bay. The restaurant is
licensed and you order and pay for what you want and then we return the same way. Please add
you name to the sign-up sheet so that I know how many are interested.
I was also hoping to run a bus trip to Vabys Restaurant at Picton on April 9th. There will be
some photos of the venue on show at our next meeting. It will cost $65 for the outing, including an
alternate-serve style two-course meal. I know some of you have paid for this already, but I only
have ten starters for this outing – not enough to hire a bus. So please pay for this outing on or be-
fore our March meeting, otherwise we will have to car share and refund money. Lastly thanks to
the many members who signed up for our Club’s Birthday lunch, following our March General
Meeting and AGM, at the Bulli Workers Club. This is a “pay your own way” outing. As previ-
ously advised, the venue is on the east side of Princes Highway, only one block south of the north-
ern end of Memorial Drive. You have plenty of time to arrange to car share if you wish, so I hope
to see you all there. Thanks.
Report – Corrimal Probus Club Recent Trip Away
with the River Postman.
On the 11-12th March some 19 Members of our Club travelled to the Central Coast, staying overnight at the Gosford RSL Clubs – Galaxy Motel. During the trip North we visited the Mt Penang Gardens, the Henry Kendall Cottage and Museum, along with the Gosford Chocolate Factory. The next morning we joined the River Postman at Brookland, on the Hawkesbury River, for an enjoyable 3 hour cruise, taking in the magnificent scenery of the lower Hawkesbury River. Returning to Wollongong in the afternoon. All members had a great time enjoying good company and plenty of laughs. The success and enjoyment of these trips depends on you the Members be-ing apart of them. So please look out for notice of our next trip, planned for the
second part of the year, so you don’t miss out on a great time. Trips Organiser - Bruce Allan
