Corpus Christi Mission Statement We, the Catholic Community of Corpus Christi, are called to continue the work and teachings set forth by Jesus Christ.
We are committed: • To make the Eucharist the center of our lives by celebrating it
joyfully and meaningfully as a community, • To grow as an involved and loving community, • To preserve church and family traditions, • To provide a Catholic education and opportunities for spiritual
growth to all age groups, • To reach out to those in need.
As a parish, we dedicate ourselves to live out our faith through service where each member shares with others the gifts and talents received from God.
Father Paul’s Reflections on the Readings
5th Sunday of Lent
As we approach to the end of our Lenten season, we are reminded of our last opportunity to cooperate with God’s graces and his benevolent love. It is He invites us to enter deep into his mystery and look for his unlimited love. In today’s gospel, we have the moving account of the encounter between Jesus and the woman caught in adultery. The scribes and the Pharisees brought this woman caught in adultery to Jesus not because they are concerned about morality, but because they want to trap Jesus. If he decided for the death penalty, he would lose the sympathy of the masses who knew him to be kind to sinners. She had expected to be killed, but instead she is set free. She has been brought back to life. Brought back to life like the Israelites out of the bondage and into the promised land. Brought back to life like St. Paul who had persecuted Christians, but now take possessions of by Christ. The Gospel of today places before us an episode that emphasizes the need to examine ourselves and to avoid passing any judgement on others. Generally, there is a tendency within us to find fault in others and condemn them. Jesus places a bigger challenge before the accus-ers. He asks them to consider their own actions and their own shortcomings. He tells them to look into themselves before passing any judgement on others. So Jesus, when prodded on by the Pharisees, charges the one who is without sin to cast the first stone. How often we have a double standard for judgment. We have one set for our-selves and quite another for others. We are able to see very clearly the weaknesses and failings of others while we condone the same in ourselves. He turns to her and asks her, “Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one sir.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go your way and sin no more.” The lesson of the story is not that sin is of no importance, or that God does not punish sin, but that God extends mercy to repentant sinners in order that they might turn from their sins.
The Fifth Sunday In Lent April 7, 2019
Stations of the Cross are held in the church every Friday during Lent.
Could you walk a mile in Jesus’s shoes? The Stations of the Cross bring us closer to
Christ as we meditate on the great love He showed for us in His most sorrowful Passion.
We have Stations of the Cross at 2:50 in the after-noon with the school children, however anyone and
everyone is welcome.
We also have Stations and a Communion Service at 7:00PM in the evening.
Consider including this prayerful opportunity as a part of your Lenten journey. Invite someone to join
you that has never experienced praying the Stations of the Cross or has not attended for a long time. Make this part of your family’s Lenten activities.
Lent is a yearly opportunity to do some houseclean-
ing of our soul. A good confession is a good start .
Lenten Communal Penance Service Monday, April 8, 2019 at 6:00PM followed
by Mass at 7:00PM Additional confessors will be available.
If you would like to make a donation to the Easter Flower Fund, there is an envelope in
your envelope packet with spaces on the back for you to list the loved ones you would like
remembered. All of the names listed will be published in our Easter bulletin.

The Fifth Sunday in Lent A Family Perspective by Bud Ozar
Stoning is not just an ancient act of violence. Each day in our homes we throw stones of ridicule, criticism, name-calling and put-downs. All of it is deadly. Hear Jesus in today’s gospel: “Whoever is without sin can throw the first stone.” Rid your home of
violence. Stop verbal stoning.
The Fifth Sunday In Lent April 7, 2019
Dear God, If I can not be brilliant, let me be kind. If I can not change the world, let me inspire just one other to do so. If I can not give away riches, let me be loving. Let me be known for kindness, for it is the greatest glory. ~Amen Source:https://www.beliefnet.com/prayables/prayers/
