MISSION EXAMPLE - FEMALE, 41 North Canterbury - Car vs. Truck The Rescue Helicopter was tasked to North Canterbury to attend a car vs truck accident. The car was hit from behind by an 11-tonne truck and then thrust into on-coming traffic. Suffering fractured vertebrae, a 41 year-old female was transported to Christchurch Hospital in a status 1 condition.

MISSION EXAMPLE - MALE, 13 Canterbury - Leisure Accident The Rescue Crew were called to a rural Canterbury location for a 13 year-old male with severe breathing difficulties after suffering critical facial injuries from a biking accident. The young patient was flown to Christchurch Hospital in a status 2 condition.

SPONSOR TWO RESCUE MISSIONS

MISSION EXAMPLE - FEMALE, 43 Mid-Canterbury Region - Mountaineering Accident / Search & Rescue The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to winch a 43 year-old female mountaineer who had fallen over 300 metres down a sheer rock face. After successfully locating the patient, the Crew hiked 30 minutes in darkness across ice and snow to treat her. The patient, in a critical condition was flown to Christchurch Hospital in a status 1 condition and remained in a coma for a full 8 days before recovery began.

MISSION EXAMPLE - MALE, 64 Rakaia Huts - Medical Emergency The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Crew were tasked to treat a patient suffering a serious medical emergency at Rakaia Huts in North Canterbury. He was flown to Christchurch Hospital within 12 minutes of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter being tasked. The 64 year-old male patient required immediate surgery to place 3 stents in his heart after suffering a heart attack
