Brownie Troop 1423A new Brownie Troop No.

1423, sponsored by Hickory Elementary PTA, has been started under Uie leadership of Mrs. Arline Sliles and assist­ ant leaders Mrs. Joyce Parana and Mrs. Eleanor Schubert.

On Jan. 18, the following 12 girls were invested at Hickory school: Nancy Brewer, Patty Brown, Susan Curtis. Renee Droubay, Cathy Gifford, Mik- elle Hatch, Christine Houston, Debra Mondschein, Kirn Par­ ana, Diane Schubert, Lynn Sebck, and Christine Stiles. Following the Investiture and program, the new brownies served their parent* refresh­ ments which they had made themselves.

The troop enjoyed ill first outing, a hike to Torrance Park, on March 31, during which two girls, Sue Linberg and Peggy McCormick were In­ vested. As a Brownie Troop, the girls are also taking week­ ly lessons in tap and ballet
