Cornwall People First Quality Checker Project
Hello• The Quality Checker project has been in
operation in Plymouth since May 2011. • It is funded by Plymouth City Council. • The teams consists 3 people Darren, John and Kate
What we do • We check service providers from the perspective of the
people who use the services• We do this by
– Interviewing people who use the service– Observations– Group sessions– Get staff to complete questionnaires– And then write a report
What we do Are checks focus on six
areas– Self-determination– Direction– Money– Home – Support– Community Life
Using a scoring system we award the service with gold,
Our history• The project began May 2011 • In July the team began their first check at St
George day centre
Our history• In January the new and present team were formed• Since January the team have completed three more
checks • Woodfield Day centre• The DOVE project- a supported living service • Kingsleigh House- a residential home
Our first awardOn April 11th the People First Quality Checkers presented their first award to St George Community Resource Centre. The Centre was awarded a gold standard and was presented with a brass plaque and certificate. The presentation was covered by the local press and local radio.
What is happen now • We are doing two pilot checks for Devon County
Council.
What is happen now • We are delivering Quality Checker training in
both Devon and Plymouth.
What is happen now • We are employing another Quality Checker for
16 hours.
What is happening now We are looking to take on sessional Quality Checkers and Volunteers.
We have been ask to do 5 checks by private providers
