• Suicide prevention training for relatives of Longreach inpatients. 2 trial sessions.

• Rolling course of 4 modules from mid Sept:– Basic suicide prevention – sharing resources– Self-injury– Open discussion & information on diagnosesAll provide opportunity to ask questions, seek support, share concerns, meet other relatives, find out about ward processes

Raising awareness of WRAPRob Gough

• Wellness Recovery Action Planning • WRAP encourages the individual to think about what things

contribute to him/her becoming unwell, what they can do to keep themselves well on a daily basis, and to formulate effective strategies for dealing with potential triggers before they occur.

• Free courses, run one evening a week over 10 weeks.• 3 WRAP courses have been held in Falmouth this year, run by

Falmouth Recovery Support• Penzance WRAP course, 10 weeks from 2nd Sept.

Self-harm strategy for children and young people. Sara Roberts

• Strategy developed in 2014 based on evidence of good practice, statistics re the prevalence of self harm, stakeholder interviews about what is working well/less well.

• Implementation started:• Guidance co-produced with health & education staff re developing individual school policies

• Leaflets designed for school use: students, parents, staff. Interest from GPs.

• Training for school staff, to be coordinated by Healthy Schools Programme

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training. Karen Oldham-Waring

• 2 day course in suicide ‘first aid’ launched in Cornwall in 2009

• 1200+ people now trained.• Regional funding awarded in 2015 to

General Practice and Junior Doctor training: Becki Osborne

• Medicines around discharge from inpatient setting audit completed. Working to implement the recommendations.

• Medical Student training pilot scheduled for early 2016 – 1 day training for 60 final year students around mental health

awareness, and building confidence to 'ask the question' and explore suicidal thoughts in a compassionate manner. Development in collaboration with Helen-Lee Savage and Cornwall Rural Community Council.

• Development of an online information resource for GPs hosted by Kernow Referral Management Service signposting to a variety of NHS and non-NHS advice, services and resources.
