Principal’s PenGod Knows What Is BestA long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away - sorry - wrong story.

A long time ago, in a land far, far away there was a young Christian lad who loved rocket ships

and dreamed of being a rocket scientist. Now he was a bright young lad and did well at school,

but because he was a bright young lad he didn’t really have to work very hard all through primary

school. When he got to high school, he was still able to cruise and get A’s and B’s. He took all

of the right courses – Maths and Sciences and graduated with honours. This allowed him to be

accepted into the Science programs at 3 top universities and he chose the one he wanted. I’ll tell

you, he was on top of the world and feeling very confident that he would be a great rocket scientist.

But then the unthinkable happened!

During his first year at university, he found that he couldn’t do the work needed. He never had to

work hard to achieve well before, and suddenly it all changed. He failed 4 out of his 5 Maths and

Science courses and the university “politely” asked him to leave the science department. He was

devastated! His plan for his life, his dream, had crashed and burned. The feeling of failure was

overwhelming.

He had no choice but to change his plan; the university allowed him to switch to a study of

psychology and social studies – neither of which had anything to do with rocket science. Within a

short period of time he was getting grades like he had in high school, and he realised that the work

wasn’t easier, but that he had a real passion for what he was doing. He graduated from university

near the top of his class, has spent over 30 years teaching in Christian schools, and eventually

went on to become principal of a Christian school.

Yes, that young lad was me. In spite of what I thought I was meant to do with my life, the Lord took

me where I was meant to go. I dare say that it has been as good as any ride on a rocket ship.

Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in

all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Hitler’s DaughterThe Secondary Drama students, under the direction of Mrs Estelle Dragstra, treated audiences last week with their performance of Hitler’s Daughter. The cast and supporting crew included: Rebecca Mott, Anthony Avice du Buisson, Sam Hunt, Jamin Saw, Catherine Everett, Emily Robinson, Trent Haagensen, Tim Avice du Buisson, Daniele Andreone, Sarah Duncan, Sian Carroll, Bronnen Lucas, Jamie Cheetham, Hannah Penfold, Caitlin Lee-Reynolds, and Caitlin Lucas.A wonderfully presented and powerful presentation. Congratulations to everyone involved.

Missing UniformsPlease check the labels on your children’s uniforms. Jade Boyle has lost a sports jacket which is clearly labelled and it may have made it’s way in error to a wardrobe near you. It’s a timely reminder to make sure your children’s uniform items are all clearly marked as well.

Primary Parent AssemblyWell done to the Year 6 and Year 5/6 classes who presented a simply sensational assembly for parents last week. It was entertaining and well crafted. Congratulations to all involved in the event. Special thanks to Mr Dixon and Mr Cameron for their work with students to bring the presentation together.

End of TermNext Friday, July 5 is the end of the term, and holidays will commence. School resumes again on Thursday July 25. We hope and pray that each student and family gets a well

deserved and refreshing break and returns ready to work hard again in Term 3.
