Chapel cemetery is in Moniteau county in the SE 1/4 Section 25 T48N
R15W. It is very near Petite Saline Creek about 1 1/2 miles
southeast of Wooldridge.

CHRISMAN FUNERAL SERVICES HELD SATURDAy
Mrs. Eliza Jan Chrisman, nee Moser, a long time resident of
Wooldridge died in Kansas City last Wednesday while visiting her
children there. The remains were brought to her late home at
Wooldridge following a short service at Kansas City. Funeral was
held at the Wooldridge Baptist church Saturday afternoon at 2:30
o’clock in charge of Rev. O. A. Blaylock, of Prairie home. Burial
was at Copp;s Chapel cemetery.
Eliza Jan Moser was born June 9, 1850 and died September 20,
1933, age 83 years, 3 months and 11 days.
On November 20, 1866, she was married to Isaac Chrisman at
California, Mo. They were the parents of twelve children, nine of
whom are living. They are: Mrs. Mollie Chenault, George and Owen
Chrisman, Kansas City; Wm. P., of Onalska, Texas; Mrs. Martha
Bauman, St. Louis; John Wooldridge; Chas. I., Archie, Mo.; Thomas,
Castle Rock, Colorado; Arch, of Overton. She is also survived by 38
grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Mrs. Chrisman had been a
Christian for 46 years and held her membership in the Wooldridge
Baptist church. She was a good woman and one who will be greatly
missed in her community and by her family and many friends.

The Wooldridge community was saddened Thursday by the news of
the death of Velma Coffman Coombes, wife of Dr. H. D. Coombes who
died at her home in Canon City, Colorado, Wednesday, December 12
[1934], after a lingering illness. Mrs. Coombes was the daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Coffman. She was born in Wooldridge,
June 9, 1909 and was 25 years old at the time of her death. Five
years ago she went to Castle Rock, Colo., with her brother, Ewing,
for her health. There, 3 years ago, she married Dr. Coombes. They
have lived in Canon City 2 years, where the funeral was held
Thursday morning at 10 o’clock conducted by the Rev. Claude L.
Neal, Baptist minister of whose church she was a member. On
Saturday at 1 o’clock at the home of her brother, Raymond Coffman
in Wooldridge friends gathered to hear a brief comforting talk
given by a friend, Harry Selck to the bereaved husband, brothers
and relatives before her body was borne to the Copps Chapel
cemetery to rest beside her mother and father. A brother and a
sister. Velma Coffman as a young girl united with the Wooldridge
Baptist church. She was a true Christian, and her sweetness of
character and the patience with which she bore her sufferings,
endeared her to all who knew her. She is survived by her husband,
Dr. H. D. Coombes, and three brothers, Ewing and Raymond of
Wooldridge, and Harold of Canon City, Colo. Relatives from
Jefferson City who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Corine
Stone, Mr. and Mrs. Lon Stone, Mrs. Charles Kaufman and sons, Mrs.
Will Stone, Mrs. C. Calvert and Bower Coffman, from near
Boonville.

Foster Glenn Michael Foster, 49, of Hallsville, passed away
unexpectedly on June18, 2020. He was born November 5, 1970 in
Saranac Lake, NY to Roger Foster and Joyce Stevens Foster.
Glenn attended Saranac Lake High School and worked as a drywall
hanger for many years. He was an avid arrowhead hunter. Glenn
enjoyed fishing and just being outdoors.

He is preceded in death by his son, Logan Michael Foster; his
maternal grandfather and both his paternal grandparents.
Survivors include his son, Gavin Michael Foster of Blackwater;
his parents, Joyce and James Dority of Blackwater and Roger Foster
of Saranac Lake, NY; brother, Scott Foster also of Saranac Lake,
NY; maternal grandmother, Jane Stevens; wife, Bonnie Foster;
extended family and many good friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Copps Chapel
in Wooldridge, MO.

Cooper County Woman Passes Following Long Illness – Funeral
Wednesday
Mrs. H. D. Giles, 75, died at her home in Wooldridge Monday
afternoon, Jan. 26 [1931], at 2 o’clock, following a paralytic
stroke which she suffered and from which she never recovered. She
had been in poor health for considerable length of time and her
death was not unexpected.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 o’clock by L. Hillard
Neston, student-pastor of the Methodist church of Jamestown. The
burial was in the church cemetery. The pallbearers were six
nephews, Newton Good, J. W. Bruce, Clarence Bruce, Paul Lamm,
Clarence Kenney, and H. S. Lamm.
Virginia Lou Good, eldest daughter of Rev. Isaac and Elizabeth
(Hampton) Good, was born in Cooper County near Wooldridge, Oct. 24,
1855. She united with the church early in her life and was married
to Douglas Giles on Aug. 23, 1887.
She leaves her husband, a stepson, William Giles, of Kansas
City, a brother, J. W. Good, of Wooldridge, a sister, Mrs. J. W.
Kenney, of Lupus, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. I. P. [Lamanda] Johnson, 71, died here Dec. 24 [1935] at
the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Ed. Jones, with whom she had
made her home for some time. Her death came unexpectedly at 12:30
o’clock following a heart attack.
Funeral services were held at Copp’s Chapel near Wooldridge
Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. Burial was at Copp’s
Chapel.
Mrs. Johnson’s husband preceded her in death 21 years ago. Three
sons, Robert, Clyde, and one infant son, also preceded her in
death.
Surviving are three sons, R. A. and Lon, both of Boonville, and
Charles of Warrensburg; and four daughters, Mrs. Clay Lamm, Mrs. J.
L. Windsor, and Mrs. Charles Ed Jones, all of Boonville, and Mrs.
J. E. Spence of Holden.

Newell Kaiser 76, of Henderson TX, passed away on Sunday March
22nd, 2020 due
to Cancer. She was born February 4th, 1944, in the small town of
Wooldridge, MO to Leslie Franklin Newell Sr and Lydia Lorene
Merritt Newell and was lucky to be one of ten kids. She married
Eddye Ray Kaiser Sr, on February 13th, 1961 who survives of the
home. Dolly had a green thumb and could grow anything. She so loved
working with her flowers, watching NASCAR, doing ceramics, and
listening to old-time country music. She was preceded in death by
her parents, siblings Audrey Hatfield, Jack Newell, Jr Newell,
Raymond Newell, Betty Alford, Evelyn Jenkins, Ronnie Newell,
grandsons Evan Kaiser, Alex Wood, and granddaughter Amanda Wood.
Dolly is survived by her sisters Lavern Becker (Carl) of Revere,
MO, Peggy Thacker (Emmett) of Henderson TX. Her children Eddye
Kaiser Jr (Kerry) of Red Wing, MN, Lorrye Kaiser Linhart (Paul) of
Boonville, MO, Wade Kaiser (Shelly) of Prairie Home, MO and Kari
Kaiser-Kaiser (Dennis) of Cushing OK, and adopted daughter Carol
Ann Hatfield Young, Henderson TX. She will be missed by her 10
grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Dolly was cremated and
will be buried in Copps Chapel, Wooldridge, MO at a later date.

Wooldridge – James H. Kingry, son of the late Andrew Kingry and
Elizabeth Gan Kingry, died Sept. 4, 1939. At the time of his death
he was nearly 70 years of age.
He was married to Miss Alpha Kimberling, who survives with two
children, Mrs. Anna Spillers of Topeka, Kans., and Arnold Kingry of
Kansas City.
Two brothers, Frank Kingry and George Kingry and two sisters,
Mrs. W. T. Stone and Mrs. C. A. Coffman, both of Jefferson City,
also survive.
With the exception of his youth which was spent near Jefferson
City, Kingry spent his entire life in this community. Interment was
at Copp’s Chapel cemetery.

Funeral Services for Native Cooper Countian Held Sunday at Copp
Chapel
Charles T. Mills died at his home in Wooldridge Friday [Jan. 30,
1931] afternoon at 2 o’clock after a several week’s serious
illness. Funeral services were held Sunday, conducted by Rev. W. A.
Bruce, at Copp’s Chapel, followed by burial in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gerald Bruce, Troy, Leonard and Paul Kaiser, Jerry
and Everett Renfrow.
Charles T. Mills, son of John Jacob and Louisa (Miller) Mills,
was born in Cooper County near Wooldridge, July 9, 1855, and was 75
years, 5 months and 21 days old at the time of his death. In 1879
he was married to Roxie Shipley. To this union were born seven
children, one, Cora Elizabeth, dying in infancy. They are John W.,
Eliza Lewis, of Boonville, Mrs. James Hodge, of Clarksburg, Mrs.
William Kaiser, Mrs. George W. Renfrow of Wooldridge and Charles
Leonard of New Mexico. She [sic] also leaves one brother, Lewis, of
Wooldridge, two sisters, Mrs. C. O. Scheibner of Wooldridge and
Mrs. Katherine Wilcox of Tipton, thirty-three grandchildren, and
five great grandchildren.
For forty-five years Mr. Mills was a member of the Methodist
church. His entire life was spent in the neighborhood of Wooldridge
with the exception of two years with his daughter, Mrs. William
Kaiser, who then lived in Arkansas.

John William Mills died Tuesday afternoon [May 1, 1934] at 4:45
o’clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. G. W. Robinson. He had
been ill for the past two weeks with heart’s disease.
He was 53 years old at the time of his death. He was born on
January 25, 1881 in Cooper County at Wooldridge, Mo.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 4 o’clock at
the home of his sister, Mrs. W. M. Kaiser at Wooldridge. Burial was
in Copp’s chapel.
Mr. Mills is survived by five sons: John William, Jr., of
Boonville; Floyd Preston of Townda, Kan.; Richard Lyle of
Boonville; Birch Lee of Boonville, and Lon Victor of Boonville; six
daughters; Mrs. Opal Dammon of LaCrosse, Wis.; Mrs. G. W. Robinson
of Boonville; Mrs. Frances O’Day of Boonville; Mrs. Charles
Bateman, Miss Mildred and Miss Florence, all of Boonville; two
brothers, Eliza Mills of Lamine and Leonard Mills of Clovis, N.
Mexico; three sisters, Mrs. W. M. Kaiser of Wooldridge, Mrs. George

Mrs. Laura Mills 72 Years Old, Dies
Mrs. Laura Mills, 72-year-old resident of Boonville died at her
home on Sixth Street Wednesday [Sept. 10, 1930] evening after being
in failing health for about a year, but seriously ill only two
days.
Mrs. Laura Mills is the widow of John Mills who preceded her in
death twenty-three years ago. Mrs. Mills came to Boonville about
eighteen years ago and has since resided here. She is survived by
her daughter, Miss Florence, with whom she made her home, and one
sister, Mrs. Minnie Givens of San Antonio, Tex. No definite funeral
arrangements have been made, but services will probably be in
Boonville.

Lady Aged 72 Had Been in Poor Health for a Year.
Funeral services were conducted from the Christian Church
Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Laura Wells [sic], 72, who died at her
home on Sixth Street Wednesday [Sept. 10, 1930] evening. Rev. Kring
Allen conducted the services which were held at one o’clock,
followed by burial at Kopp’s Cemetery at Wooldridge.
The deceased had been in failing health for a year. Surviving
with whom she made her home, is one daughter, Miss Florence, and
one sister, Mrs. Minnie Givens, of San Antonia, Tex.
Mills Lewis Mills, 70, Died April 22
Isaac Williamson of Wooldridge Dies
Isaac Williamson died suddenly of heart failure Wednesday, June
12, [1935] about 2 p.m. at his home 2 miles west of Wooldridge.
Mr. Williamson was the son of Elbert and Clara Campbell
Williamson and was born in Andrew county, Mo., March 21, 1858. When
a small boy he went with his parents to Illinois. Living there a
few years the family moved back to Missouri. In 1888 he was united
in marriage to Miss Ida McClanahan. During his early married life
they moved to Oklahoma, where they lived several years. His wife
passed away during this time and later he returned to Missouri.
Mr. Williamson was employed by the government until several
years ago when he retired on account of his health and declining
years. Since that time he made his home with his brother, James
Williamson at the old Williamson home.
Mr. Williamson was a member of the Christian church, uniting
with that faith in early manhood he was an honest, upright
citizen.
The following relatives survive, a son, Troy, of Idaho, a
brother, James Williamson, and one sister, Mrs. Charles Lamm.
The funeral service, which was held at the home of his sister,
Mrs. Charles Lamm at Wooldridge on Thursday at 3 p.m. was attended
by a large number of friends and relatives from Boonville, and
surrounding towns. A talk was given by his friend, Dr. O. W.
Cochran of Boonville, and interment was at Copp cemetery. The
pallbearers were, Ira Adair, Theo. Diehl, H. H. Kaiser, W. J.
Wooldridge, Sr., Paul Eager and Carl Hopkins.

Lewis Mills, age 70 years, passed away Monday morning, April 22
[1935], at the home of his niece, Mrs. George Renfrow, in
Wooldridge. Mr. Mills was the son of John Jacob and Louisa Mills,
was born in Cooper county near Wooldridge. Surviving are two
sisters. Mrs. Katherine Wilcox of Fortuna, and Mrs. C. O. Scheibner
of Wooldridge, besides a host of nieces and nephews, and many other
relatives. He united with the Methodist church in early
manhood.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at Copp’s
chapel by the reverend Bryon of California. Burial was in the
church cemetery. Pall bearers were Harry Selck, Hugh Bruce, Albert
Bruce, George Knapp, Otto Enloe, and Omar Stover.
Among those from a distance attending the funeral services of
Lewis Mills were Mrs. Blanche Wagner and son Daniel Lee, of New
Franklin, and Mr. Henry Timm and son, Harry, of Lone Elm.

Tuesday evening May 29, 2018 at Katy Manor Nursing Home in Pilot
Grove surrounded by her family. Visitation for Shirley will be 10
to 11 A.M. Saturday June 2 at Howard Funeral Home. Funeral services
will follow the visitation at 11 A.M. with Pastor Paul Weisenborn
officiating. Burial will follow in Copps Chapel Cemetery near
Wooldridge. Shirley Ann Newell was born September 5, 1936 in
Jamestown, MO. the daughter of Henry Small and Frances Marie George
Small. She married Raymond Newell on December 13, 1952 in
Boonville, MO. Shirley worked as a cook and a CNA in area nursing
homes during her life. In her spare time, she enjoyed the outdoors
as she loved to hunt, fish and taking care of her flowers and
vegetable gardens. She also loved to cross stitch, play cards and
scratch some lottery tickets. Shirley was a people person and never
met a stranger, the smile she had when her family was around,
especially her grandchildren was worth a million dollars. Shirley
was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Frances, her
husband, Raymond, Daughter, Patricia Ann Burnett, Brother, Harold
Small and sister, Mary Williams. She is survived by her sons,
Kenneth Douglas (Ellen) Newell of Aurora, MO., Henry Ray Newell of
Pilot Grove, Terry Burnett of Boonville, MO., and daughter, Lynda

Grant Pursley, Wooldridge, Dies at Home of Friend During
Visit.
Grant Pursley, 66, Wooldridge, native of Cooper County, was
found dead in bed at the home of his friend, W. M. Kaiser, in
Wooldridge early this morning.
Apparently in good health yesterday morning, Pursley had gone to
Wooldridge for the day and then stayed overnight with his friend,
Kaiser. This morning when he failed to respond to a call for
breakfast, Kaiser found that Pursley had died overnight.
County Coroner T. C. Beckett and Sheriff Clay Groom were called
this morning. Coroner Beckett pronounced the death as from natural
causes, probably heart trouble. No inquest was held.
Pursley had been living with a daughter, Mrs. Minnie Stock,
south of Wooldridge. Funeral arrangements have not been
announced.
Grant Pursley of Wooldridge Dies

Found Dead In Bed at Home of Friends Tuesday Morning – Funeral
Wednesday
Grant Pursley, died suddenly at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William
Kaiser at Wooldridge sometime Tuesday morning. He was found dead in
his bed at the Kaiser home when he failed to respond to the call to
breakfast. Mr. Pursley had went to the home of his friends to spend
the night.
Funeral services were planned for Wednesday afternoon at 2
o’clock at Copp’s Chapel,

with burial to follow in the chapel cemetery.
Mr. Pursley was 66 years old. Coroner T. C. Beckett and Sheriff
Clay Groom were called to Wooldridge Tuesday morning to investigate
the death, and Dr. Beckett said unquestionable the end came from
natural causes. No inquest was held.
Pursley U. G. Pursley Dies
U. Grant Pursley, 66 years old, was found dead in his bed at
Wooldridge Tuesday morning of last week. Funeral services and
burial took place at Copps Chapel the following day, the Rev. W. T.
Russell officiating. Mr. Pursley’s wife who before their marriage
was Miss Virginia Bruce died about 25 years ago. They had two
children, one of whom died in infancy. The other is Mrs. Adam Stock
of near Wooldridge. There are several grandchildren.

Mrs. Martha Ann Windsor was born in the Splice Creek
neighborhood May 8, 1862 and died at St. Joseph’s hospital in
Boonville, June 19, 1936, being 74 years of age at the time of her
death. She was the daughter of James P. and Alamanza Woods
Renfrow.
Mrs. Windsor was married to A. M. Windsor Nov. 20, 1884, who
preceded her in death April 12, 1931. To this union were born 4
children: A. Hagen and Lawrence, of Boonville; Charles of
Wooldridge, and Virgie of the home. She also leaves 14
grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 1 brother, James Renfrow of
Overton and 1 sister, Mrs. Alamanza Korsen of Prairie Home and two
half brothers, Jerry of Wooldridge and George of Boonville.
Mrs. Windsor had been in failing health for several months
following an operation but after the death, June 6, of her brother,
Andy Renfrow, which resulted from an automobile accident, she was
taken again to the hospital June 10 and grew weaker until her death
Friday morning, June 19.
Mrs. Windsor was a fine example of a splendid christian woman,
greatly beloved by all who knew her. She spent her entire life near
the community where she was born and for many years has lived on a
farm near Wooldridge which she managed since her husband’s
death.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 from Copp’s
Chapel with Rev.

Brodersen of the Boonville Baptist church in charge of the
service. Mrs. Windsor was a member of this church. Burial was in
Copp’s cemetery.
