The majority of students will achieve a ‘sound’ grading.
A ‘sound’ grading indicates: The student has a sound knowledge and understanding of the main areas of content and has achieved an adequate level of competence in the processes and skills. Sound means they are achieving at grade level.
Teachers will be assessing and reporting on the work that has been programmed for Semester 1. The end of the year report will assess the work programmed in Semester 2, that is, the report will not be cumulative.
Students in Kindergarten have a different report which indicates their progress in meeting the outcomes of the kindergarten syllabus.
Our parent interviews will take place in Week 10 this term (Mon 27th June – Fri 1st July). Bookings for these interviews will be done online. Parents who don’t have access to the internet at home, at work, at a friend’s house or on their phones, can contact the office and access will be given to you at school. Mr Thomas’ Wall of Fame
A big thank you to Chloe in 4/5M for the landscape artwork that now sits proudly on my wall of fame. Holly in 5/6W is also an addition to my wall of fame this week, with her amazing piece of pop art inspired by Andy Warhol. Malibu in 5/6W worked hard to produce a very bright elephant artwork, which also now sits proudly on my wall of fame.
A big congratulations goes to Brianna Kelly who represented Sydney North at the NSW PSSA Basketball Championships in Tamworth. Brianna's team placed 6th out of 14 teams from all over NSW. Well done, Brianna!
Good luck to Gabe Smith, Jack Legge and Jayden Morgan who are representing Sydney North at the NSW PSSA Rugby League Championships at Tamworth this week. Their results will be in the next newsletter.

Yr 3 Claymation workshops
As part of their Technology Programme, students from Year 3 took part in an exciting Claymation Workshop last week and produced some really entertaining animations.
They had to prepare their storyboard, scripts and backdrops prior to the day so they were all ready to build their characters and start filming when Matt arrived with all the equipment.
The classes spent their day learning all about animation, cameras, creating characters from plasticine, 3D and perspective and were lucky enough to have portable surface pro laptops to use.
They had a fantastic day and have thoroughly enjoyed watching each other’s movies.
You will find a couple of them featured on the Copacabana Website http://www.copacabana-ps.com/ and more examples on the Technology blog page http://www.copacabana-ps.com/technology-blog
On Wednesday 8/06/2016, four members of the environment group Sienna, Maddy, Mika & Asha presented their environment project at the take 3 for the sea program at Ourimbah University.
We enjoyed listening to other schools presentations and even got to show a presentation of our own about making a difference in our school and community.
Bruce showed us an indigenous dance about the turtles from his home land Frazer Island, it raised awareness for these beautiful creatures in our oceans.
We continue to have another busy month with lots of enjoyment and amazing support from the school community… Thank you
Thank you to all the families who supported the school disco… it was so great to see the students dancing, having loads of fun whilst our beautiful teachers supervised and had a jig themselves. We have a Mini fete coming up in 2 weeks… loads of fun for all the family. Jumping castles, tombola, cake stall, craft, hair spray, nails, live entertainment and BBQ. Bring your picnic blanket and make a day of it. It’s being held on the Grass at the surf club. If you know anyone that is interested in being a sponsor please email contact details to fundraising [email protected]
Look forward to seeing you all at the Copa Green.
Canteen Update:
The P&C having been working towards getting the school canteen back into action as we have not had this service available to us this term. We are very excited to announce that a canteen manager has been appointed… This is Kirsten Walter who has 2 students at the school and is very excited with this opportunity. We look forward to introducing her in the next newsletter… so watch this space. The canteen will be open from the 20th July for lunch only. Mon and Tues will be supported by flexischools. Wed, Thurs and Friday’s will be full operation for Lunch and purchasing over counter for students.. There will be a survey coming home next week as we would love for you to provide feedback re: usage of the canteen, what food you would like to see and even have the opportunity to name the canteen or design the outside of the canteen. Thank you in advance for your support in completing this survey.
Uniform Shop Update:
We would like to thank Kerinna Diamond for her support to the canteen…. It has been amazing and would not be where it is today without her dedication. Kerinna is stepping down and we would like to introduce Patricia Smith (Trish) to the position who is looking forward to stepping into this position of Uniform Shop Co-ordinator.
