In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge the forms and conventions of real media products?

Page 2: conventions

• In my magazine I have used conventions similar to what a real magazine would use, for example with my logo I used the font ‘Broken74’ which is similar to the main font used in Kerrang!’s logo as both of them appear broken as this is associated with indie rock music magazines.

• For my front page, similar to other media magazines like NME or Kerrang! I have used barcodes placed in the bottom right corner of my magazine as this makes the magazine look more authentic, I have also for the same reason put the date and price at the top of my magazine.

Similar to real magazines I have made the Desolation logo the main part of the front cover and made it big so it easy to see and used different colours so it would stand out.

I have also used headers and advertisements for my magazine for example, FREE POSTERS which is similar to real music magazines, I have also used this for the top banner where it says ‘’ Free mega poster and more’’ as this is what you would usually find on music magazines, my style is similar to Kerrang! as pictures and header are placed in a messy fashion.

• For my contents page this photo gave me inspiration as I liked the layout so I decided to base my magazine contents page to look like Nme’s Contents page,

• I liked the use of slanted photo’s so I decided to use this for the photo’s on the content page. NME’s magazine theme is also Rock and its sub cultures: indie rock and alternative rock.

• My contents page is similar to NME’s contents page as I used it for inspiration as I liked the use of the headers. I like how she model is shown to be edgy and rebellious as her overall theme of her clothes and make-up is ‘Rock’ I used this in my magazine as their facial expressions are stern and serious.
