The objective of the study was to find out if MindMapping Strategy significantly affects students’achievement in writing recount. This study wasconducted by using experimental research design. Thepopulation was all students of grade VIII of SMP YP.Gemilang Bangsa Beringin with the total number ofstudents was 60 students. There were two parallelclasses namely classes VIII-1 and VIII-2. The samplewas selected by applying cluster random samplingtechnique. The sample were divided into two groups,namely experimental and control groups. The class VIII-1 consisting of 30 students was the experimental grouptaught by using Mind Mapping Strategy and the classVIII-2 consisting of 30 students was the control grouptaught by without using Mind Mapping Strategy. Theinstrument used to collect data was writing test. Theresult of the data analysis by applying t-test formulashowed that tobs value (4.09) was higher than ttable value(2.000) (tobs > ttable = 4.09 > 2.000 (p=0.05)). Based onthe finding, the Ha was accepted and H0 wassuccessfully rejected. Thus, Mind Mapping Strategysignificantly affects students’ achievement in writingrecount.
