In 2013, Content+Technology magazine celebrates its Tenth Birthday. In the lead-up to this milestone, we asked ourselves, “How we can better serve our readers throughout Australia, new Zealand, Southeast Asia and beyond?”The answer: Two editions – Asia and Australia/new Zealand!
C+T has always had a broader regional focus because we acknowledged from the outset the interconnected nature of the Asia Pacific not only in terms of technology dissemination, but also in project collaboration and, above all, in the flow of knowledge and people.
Our first year saw us interview Kenji noshi of nTV Japan regarding roll-out of ISDB-T, we spoke about co-productions with Seto Lok Lin - Director for Industry Development with Singapore’s media Development Authority, we ran a feature on the post-production behind malaysian feature film Puteri Gunung Ledang by Director Saw Teong Hin, and reported the reflections of Roger Savage, CEO of Australian audio post company Soundfirm, on setting up a facility in Beijing.
That first 12 months also saw us cover such milestones as the first post-SARS BroadcastAsia show, the establishment of Lucasfilm Animation Singapore, Iredeto becoming the first foreign conditional access supplier company to be certi-fied by China’s SARFT, as well as Al Jazeera Eng-lish announced at CASBAA 2004, and interactivity plans for Star India to name, as they say, a few.
Since then, the explosion of activity brought about by deregulation, digitalisation and file-based technology has made it a more complex task to address the industry on both the local and wider regional level.
With that in mind, we have decided to publish the two editions - Content+Technology Asia and Content+Technology AnZ (Australia- new Zealand).
C+T Asia is being printed and mailed out of Singapore, while C+T AnZ is being produced and mailed from Sydney. Both are bi-monthly (published in alternating months) and both are distributed free of charge to qualified content production and delivery professionals throughout the region.
We are determined that each should have its own identity and, while the two editions will have some content in common, we are also determined that each have the highest quality of local focus we can provide.
We hope you’ll partner with us in our new endeavor and join us in celebrating ten years of independent industry coverage.
We thank you, Phil Sandberg, Publisher
