Page 2: Contents Page Analysis

Header is written in pink and in bold so it is easily noticed by the readers. The colour follows the colour scheme and is stereotypically related to girls which is the target audience. The pastel shade shows maturity also which is an important part of the magazine.

Graphic images to represent what else is in the magazine and act as a bit of a teaser to the audience making them want to turn to this page. The fact they are all girls show that this is a girls magazine and are of the age of the teens that it is aimed at.

A pull quote to engage with the readers and feel it is a one to one conversation with one of their idols. It also relates to music which is what the magazine is all about.

Page numbers showing which page the feature is on so they can turn to it if they are immediately affected by the picture and want to read more.

This is written in a different colour and in a border so that the readers are attracted to it first. This is because I wanted the audience to feel like they do have a place amongst everyone else and is the editors way of putting that across to them. It is something I have included so the magazine is of a certain individuality but still influenced by others.

Buzz word ‘exclusive’ shows that this story is individual and the readers will get a better experience reading it here than anywhere else.

I have followed the colour scheme so that the audience have the same presentation all the way through and feel mature as well as included when reading this magazine.

Influences

I really like the teen vogue contents page layout. It is simple but simple at the same time with the main focuses and the header and picture the main focus. I have taken the white background and the words. At the same time I have made sure that the headers of the features and the page numbers stand out the most. However I thought it was important to have more than one picture so that there are several stories at a focus.

I think that the ‘inside…’ quote was a nice way to introduce the magazine and the contents within it. I also like the bubbly text used and the highlighting which I tried to adapt into my piece by separating different colours from different parts of the text so it was clear to the readers which bit meant what. Top of the Pops has been a big influence as it is one of the best selling music magazines aimed at teenage girls which I would like to adapt.
