In 2018, Freedom Leisure and Sport Worcester have joined forces to host the annual City of Worcester Sport Awards which celebrates and recognises local sporting success along with our great partners and sponsors across the City, inspiring future athletes. Held at the University Arena within the City and welcoming a wide audience from across the sporting field, the wonderful evening brings to life the sporting talent and opportunities within Worcester City. The City of Worcester Sport Awards will take place on Thursday 13th September 2018 and will be hosted in partnership with Worcester City Council. The evening is aligned to the nomination process for the official BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards. The winners of the awards include; sporting participants, schools, volunteers, coaches, clubs, teams, volunteers and organisations that have shown outstanding commitment and progress in sport and physical activity over the past 12 months. In 2015, Alec Davies, the winner of the Howard Peters Award went on to win the Midlands Unsung Hero Award, attending the BBC Sports Personality of The Year Awards. Up to 150 people are invited to this event, including; VIP’s, award nominees and their guests, local sporting champions, sports clubs and organisations, local business’ and traders, Worcester City Councillors, Council Committee Chairs, partners, stakeholders, The Mayor of Worcester, local press officers and of course the Platinum & Gold sponsors. Freedom Leisure and Sport Worcester are looking for a Platinum sponsor and 13 Gold sponsors to support each of the 14 awards for the evening. Your sponsorship will also be invested into the Worcester Sporting Grant scheme (see page 12 for more details). The City of Worcester Sport Awards have been widely appreciated and enjoyed by the public, our partners and evening guests. We welcome all feedback from the guests on the evening. The 2017 awards evening was held at The University Arena and had VIP guests including the world famous athletics legends - Steve Cram CBE and hosted by the BBC Midlands Today Sports presenter and reporter Dan Pallett. VIP Guests from near and far are invited to share their experiences and inspirational stories from a grass roots level, up to professional levels. SPORTS SCHOOL OF THE YEAR AWARDThis award will recognise a school that has made the most significant contribution to school sport development in the 2017-2018 academic year.

JUNIOR TEAM OF THE YEARA team who have achieved and attained a high level of performance. They have also displayed good attitude and aptitude in their chosen sport.
