EXPECTED OUTPUTS AND ACTIONS

• Process of creating “Limpopo CP Coordinating Unit” comprising of Representative/s from host countries of Botswana, Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe with set mandate and responsibilities.

• Process of Creating Sub Structure to “Limpopo CP Coordinating Unit” in individual host countries, participated by Agricultural as well as Water sectors at Public and private levels, in support of the “Unit”

• Process of creating External and Internal Linkages for the “ Limpopo CP

Coordinating Unit”. At external level, among others, it will be linked to “ Limpopo Basin Commission” and relevant research bodies and NGOs in the host countries, SADC and NEPAD initiatives, Sub Saharan CP, while at internal level, strong linkages will be created with other Bench mark Basins and their Coordinators, Theme Leaders as well as on going and future research projects at basins level with specific focus on Limpopo

• Review process of “identified and to be identified, need based, research topics”, and preparation of concept research proposal /notes with regard to those topics for consideration of Financial bodies for funding at National and International levels and further processes there after in terms of an agreed upon/adopted project management process flow diagram

Page 28: CONTENT

EXPECTED OUTPUTS AND ACTIONS• Process of structuring “Research Teams” capable of undertaking full

research planning , implementation, training and mentorship cycle in participation and collaboration with National Research bodies in South Africa and other participating countries where applicable. Such teams can also be structured in conjunction with Internationally based Research bodies.

• Process of linkages with Nationally and Internationally based Research and Developmental funding bodies and agencies with a clear strategic direction to support the adopted research agenda of National Research bodies such as ARC in general and of CP on Water and Food with specific focus on Limpopo Basin

• Process of upgrading and activation of Limpopo basin data base and its work station set up to a dynamic level that can provide the latest base line information in various forms to all ongoing and future research programs as well as other developmental applications

• Process of promoting Benchmark Basin developmental concept through propagation of a well prepared and established Web Site, regular news letter in English and Portuguese and a well documented Basin Profile
