• Progress of humanity with science • Clear definitions, metrics• Careful measurements, quantitative observation…• … leading to powerful new theories, techniques, innovations• Building on information theory…• … define knowledge, cognition, cognitics and related metrics• Particular results:
• infinitesimal perception of reality• critical role of selected goals and ethics
• Beyond (static) information (e.g. dictionnary, movie reel, recorded news)
• Knowledge (in a particular domain)
• Ability to generate relevant information• Requires implementation on a (cognitive) system• Quantitatively defined by analogy to the size of a virtual table containing
all possible answers
• Cognition• Includes features other than knowledge: e.g. abstraction, expertise,
learning or complexity• Expertise is a crucial concept: relates not only to knowledge, but also
time. Reference for learning etc. (re. MCS cognition theory)
• Addressing knowledge issues at world level is probably optimal. • As shown above, knowledge and cognition call for goals. Ethics.
– Only then, good models can be elaborated … – … and quantitative, scientific approaches can be performed so as to
eventually reach those goals.
• Boosting factors for WKD :– Make (worldwide players) goals explicit – Preferably, adjust them to reduce negative interferences – “Reversing the causal direction” suggests further to dream of common
goals. Then cognition and dedicated work may let those dreams come true.
• Refer to classical information, and newly defined knowledge, cognitive concepts and quantitative cognitics (re. also ref. and appendix)
• This calls for reversing the usual causality chain• Consider it is not past actions that dictates current state• Consider it is some goals in future that can effectively trigger current
cognitive processes and actions.• Surprisingly converges with many irrational yet culturally well-
established paradigms ( betting on placebo effects, brain storming, chance, fortune tellers, etc.!)
• Let’s sketch together an enthusiastic, visionary future for our world, then knowledge and cognition will lead us there.
