SOIL CONTAMINATIONSoil contamination is the presence of chemicals introduced by humans. This contamination appears

to generally in the underground storage tanks, application of pesticides, leaking landfills or

storage of industrial products directly. The most common chemicals are petroleum hydrocarbons, solvents, pesticides and others. For soil pollution

the primarily risk is of health, directly and by contact with drinking water sources. The

delineation of contaminated areas and the resulting cleanup tasks that are both expensive

and time consuming, requiring extensive skills in geology, hydrography, chemistry, etc.

AGENTSWhen we throw on the by voluntary or accidental diverse products as paper, glass, plastics, organic matter, fecal

matter, solvents, pesticides, hazardous waste or radioactive substances, etc.

will directly affect the physical characteristics of the chemical,

thereby triggering numerous effects on living things.

PESTICIDES World population has grown so

appalling in the last 40 to 50 years. This population growth requires a great challenge to

man in relation to food resources, implying a more intensive use of land in order to obtain a higher

yield.

InsecticideThey are used to exterminate pests. Acting on larvae, eggs or adult insects. One of the most

widely used insecticides is DDT, which is characterized by very fast. It works by contact

and is absorbed by the cuticle of insects, causing death. This insecticide can be

maintained for 10 years or more in soil and does not decompose. It has been demonstrated

that chlorinated organic insecticides such as DDT, are introduced into the food chain and

concentrate in the fatty tissue of animals

There are other insecticides that are used in horticultural activities, are biodegradable

and are not concentrated, but its toxic action is linked to the mechanism of nerve impulse transmission, resulting in a lack of

polluted bodies of the nervous system. Herbicides are a type of chemical

compound that destroys the vegetation, because it prevents the growth of plants in their juvenile stage or exert an action on

the metabolism of adult plants.
