Horwich will remember them The Town Mayor of Horwich, Councillor Steve Rock along with the Royal British Legion and Members of the Town Council invites members from local groups and organisations along with members of the public to join them for the Annual Parade and Service on Sunday 12 th November. The Parade assembles on Ramsbottom Road outside the RMI Club at 11.30 am for departure at 11.40 am, taking a route along Ramsbottom Road, Victoria Road, Church Street and Lee Lane. It then moves on to the Garden of Remembrance on Lever Park Avenue for the Service of Remembrance at 12.15pm, returning via the direct route along Chorley New Road for dismissal. The Parade will be covered by temporary road closures and marshalled. The Town Mayor will lay a wreath at the Loco Works War Memorial at 11.00am. At the request of the Royal British Legion, the Parade will not stop at the Public Hall on Lee Lane as their representative will lay a wreath in the Council Chamber following the two-minute silence at 11.00am on Armistice Day, Saturday 11 th November. The Town Mayor of Horwich, Councillor Steve Rock would like to extend an invitation to the residents of Horwich to join them and local Mayoralty for the Lighting of the Civic Christmas Tree & Lighting Displays at 6pm on Friday 1 December 2017 at the roundabout opposite the Crown Hotel, Horwich. This event traditionally marks the start of the festive season in Horwich and will as usual be followed by a short carol service accompanied by a local school band and choir. Father Christmas and the Rotary Club sleigh will be making an appearance again this year. Members of Horwich Carnival Royalty will also be there. So why not come along and bring the children so that they can join the Mayor in the big countdown to the lighting of the tree!
