In reference to the pre-bid queries received by AITL and the
pre-bid meeting held at the office of AITL at Mumbai on August 02,
2017, Bidders are requested to take note of the Responses and
Clarifications to the Pre-Bid Queries provided below. Additionally,
Bidders are requested to take note of CORRIGENDUM No. 2 below for

16 Specification - 3.2.8 EARTH WORK / EXCAVATION BY MECHANICAL
MEANS
BACKFILLING As soon as possible backfill the excavation after
placement of the permanent structure. Use backfill free from stones
large enough to interfere with compaction; large or frozen lumps
that will not break down readily under compaction; and wood or
other extraneous material. Obtain backfill material from excavation
or from other sources. In areas not supporting a completed roadbed,
retaining wall, or embankment, place backfill in layers at most 10
in. deep (loose measurement). In areas supporting a portion of a
roadbed, retaining wall, or embankment, place backfill in uniform
layers at most 8 in. deep (loose measurement). Compact each layer
to meet the density requirements of the roadbed, retaining wall,
embankment material, or as shown on the plans. Bring each layer of
backfill material to the moisture content needed to obtain the
required density.

17 Specification - 5.1 Additional Items
5.1.1 SPREADING GOOD EARTH 5.1.1.1 Good earth shall be removed
from stacks by head load and spread evenly over the surface to the
thickness ordered by the Engineer-in-charge. It shall be spread
with a twisting motion to avoid segregation and to ensure that
spreading is uniform over the entire area. 5.1.1.2 Measurements:
The quantity of good earth spread shall be determined by the
difference in the volume of good earth in stacks before and after
spreading duly reduced for looseness in stacking by 20% of good
earth. 5.1.1.3 Rate: The rate shall include of all the labour and
material involved in all the operations described above, but does
not include the cost of the good earth which shall be paid for
separately unless specifically described in the item.
18 Specification - 5.1 Additional Items
5.1.2 SPREADING SLUDGE/MANURE 5.1.2.1 Good earth shall be
thoroughly mixed with sludge or manure in specified proportion as
described in the item or as directed by the Engineer-in-Charge. The
