• In the fields of architecture and civil engineering, construction is a process that consists of the building or assembling of infrastructure.
• Far from being a single activity, large scale construction is a feat of human multitasking.
• Normally, the job is managed by a project manager, and supervised by a construction manager, design engineer, construction engineer or project architect.
• In general, there are four types of construction:– Residential Building construction– Industrial construction– Commercial Building construction– Heavy Civil construction
• Each type of construction project requires a unique team to plan, design, construct and maintain the project.

• The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) is a body that represents professionals who work within the built environment in the United Kingdom and other sovereign nations.
• The CIOB has over 45,000 members worldwide. Members are drawn from a wide range of professional disciplines working within the built environment, including clients, consultants and contractors as well specialists in regulation, research and education.

• The following designatory letters may be used by members of the CIOB:– Associate members may use "ACIOB".– Incorporated members may use "ICIOB".– Members may use "MCIOB".– Fellows may use "FCIOB".
