MONTHLY ACTIVITY REPORT-June 2016 1. Sankalp Team organized its annual creativity week at all Centres in the month of May 2. Under the creativity week the following events were organized a. Speech Competition b. Essay Competition c. Clay Model Making Competition d. Drawing Competition 3. Children were engaged in varied creative events to promote and encourage their creative thinking power. 4. Only when we move from book based learning to activity based learning, we can hope to improve the creative instincts of the students 5. Sankalp completed the fund transfer for students who will be sponsored in Majalgaon district of Maharashtra, a district known frequent farmer suicides. The oversight of the entire progress report of the students will be seen by Naam Foundation. 6. Extra Teaches were engaged at NIT Centre for running the classes during the summer vacation. Rajan Sir from GSN is taking English Classes and Dilip Sir from GSN will take charges of Hindi and Maths 7. NIT Centre has been renovated and classes will run from the month of August 8. Sankalp Team came forward to lend a helping hand to Yogesh, a boy from giridih district. Yogesh hails from an underprivileged family and needed Sankalp’s support to pursue his coaching for ITI entrances. 9. Sankalp launched its new and updated website on 20.6.16. Our Tech Team took the initiative and Mr Ashutosh from 2k11 batch designed the entire template. 10. Sankalp celebrated Environment Week at its Telco Centre with UFHE. The programme covered events like Speech, Essay and Drawing Competition. Winners of every event were awarded by Mr, Sampath, CEO, and TML Drivelines. 11. Local dailies covered the events and our efforts were appreciated by people across the city 12. 12 students from one of India’s Premier B School, XLRI approached Sankalp for their summer projects on social impact. 13. The projects awarded by President were 1. Comprehensive list of companies in Jharkhand which Sankalp can approach for CSR funds 2. Parameters (both academic and non-academic) which can be used to monitor student wise progress 3. Interventions to reduce out of pocket expenditure of parents 4. Livelihood programmes for mothers of Sankalp children which will enhance their income like selling of brooms, any hand made products (full supply chain model) 5. Most backward blocks of Bihar and Jharkhand where immediate intervention is required ( 14. We need to have a blue print beforehand as massive funds may flow from Energo Engg Ltd.) 15. Our Alumnus Mr Shashi from 1973 batch and MD of Energo India Pvt Ltd. Approached Sankalp for sponsoring their projects and supporting Sankalp in its expansion particularly in Bihar and Jharkhand. 16. Our dreams of transforming society saw the day when Gunja Lohar, daughter of the famous dacoit Mangal Lohar ( who is now dead) enrolled at our Telco Centre along with her friend Simran 17. Two more sponsors agreed to sponsor Sankalp Children. a. Gayatri will be now be sponsored by Pallavi Tiwari b. Tanuja Malla, 2011 batch alumnus will sponsor Bhuneshwari

19. Sankalp provided financial support to Prashant, a student who was earlier enrolled at our Mohan Nagar Centre. Prashant lost his father at a young age and he is the only person to arrange livelihood for his family.
20. A new lady teacher has joined our Telco Centre. She will take classes for the nursery and junior batches.
21. Telco Centre Report a. Account details of new teacher has been collected b. School of sponsored students were visited to collect the progress report. All the
students are very regular and school results are showing great improvement. c. New students have joined the Centre
22. Sankalp’s Giridih Centre has got stabilized and classes are successfully running with the support and coordination of Abhivyakti Foundation.
23. Total 49 children are enrolled at our Giridih Centre. a. 23 children ( class1-5) b. 2t6 Children ( class 6-9)
24. Preeti, a 2k11 batch alumnus gifted a pair of shoes to Tapan, our student at NIT Centre. 25. Moral Value classes were conducted at Ashiyana Centre by President. The stories taught
were a. Man & God b. Garden of ServiceDrawing competition was conducted at Dhanbad Centre. Centre
volunteers and Smriti coordinated the events. 26. Centre report from our Jamui Centre shows remarkable results in the academic
development of students. 27. Ankit Kumar, An IIT KGP Graduate did his internship at Sankalp’s Telco Centre and
successfully organized “ unleash your creativity month” under which various events like drawing, speech, quiz and was model making was organized
28. 2 additional teachers have been recruited at NIT centre as a stop gap arrangement to conduct classes for 2 months during summer vacations. Rajen Sir who is also a faculty at our MIG Centre will take English Language classes and Navin Sir will take charge of Maths and Social Science classes.
29. Common tests at all centres are now being held successfully. Marks are recorded for all students and analysis is done to identify students with poor performance.
30. Rajneesh, our centre teacher at Aashiyana has started taking classes for Navodaya preparation
31. Sankalp Team will conduct a PR cum awareness session at Chhayanagar & Chandinagar Basti, near Mango Bus Stand. The basti houses around 700-800 families and educational levels and enrolment are extremely low
32. Aakash, a second year volunteer of Sankalp, who is keen on penning blogs about Sankalp , will write and regularly post his articles on Sankalp FB page and website
33. Sankalp volunteers campaigned in Bishtupur and Sakchi Area of Jamshedpur to build awareness about Sankalp and attract sponsors. The activity was a success we received calls from many new sponsors and donors after the flex were put in different shops and restaurants.
34. To maintain the child: student ratio at our Madhepura Centre, an additional teachers has been recruited to take classes
35. Sponsorship Team did a commendable job when it convinced seniors from 2k11 batches to sponsor child from this academic year
36. Pahal- EK Nayi Soch , our partner in Bihar, and its team is working extremely hard and driving literacy plans with zeal and passion
37. Monitoring of the classes, the attendance and quality have been made more strict a. Frequent visit by President and other volunteers to stabilize the centre b. Regular report of the syllabus completed and lessons taught at the centre is
monitored thru WhatsApp group c. Pics of the classes are shared online
38. With a view to reach out to more no of like mind people and arrange sponsors for the needy children, we plan to massively advertise our efforts and future plans thru campaign like putting flex at market places and desk flex at important offices in Jamshedpur.
39. Monthly interaction led by President took place with the Team and special mention was made to the tireless efforts which the volunteers are making for making the different activities successful
40. Both Sankalp-A pledge to change and Sankalp Volunteers group FB page noted huge hike in likes and membership over the month
41. Sankalp saw a huge rise in daily requests for addition to its FB Page of Sankalp Volunteers group Thanks to all the Volunteers and well-wishers for your continuous support and wishes.
