Connecting HR
What Is Connecting HR?
Connecting HR is:
• A community of HR professionals living and working in and around London, UK
• A series of events, including tweet-ups and now an unconference, to support people within this community
What Is an Unconference?
An unconference is a facilitated, participant-driven conference centered on a theme or purpose. The term "unconference" has been applied, or self-applied, to a wide range of gatherings that try to avoid one or more aspects of a conventional conference, such as high fees and sponsored presentations.

What Is an Unconference?
Most people have had the experience that the best part of a conference is the informal conversation, not the formal presentation.
So why not design the event around informal and social learning instead?

What Is an Unconference?
The event revolves around ‘The Grid’:
What Will Be Happening?
• Our headline theme is around embracing social collaboration, including social media tools within the HR function and the wider organisation to improve business performance
• We will be discussing this and other issues raised on The Grid
• We are currently discussing ideas for sessions at http://connectinghr.org/contribute
When Is It Happening?
The Connecting HR unconference is taking place on Thursday 21 October, from 9.00-5.00pm, with an optional evening event through to 9.00pm.
Where Will It Be Held?
The Connecting HR unconference is being held at The Spring, a large venue dedicated to the development of community, very close to Vauxhall tube / train station.
Who Is Coming?
• Attendees will be practitioners (both clientside and limited external suppliers) together with academics and journalists etc
• We hope all areas of HR will be represented, including L&D, OD, Internal Communication, Employee Relations, Recruitment etc
Why Should I Attend?
Connecting HR is going to be the most exciting, and value-adding, learning and networking event in the HR profession in the UK this year.
Costs are lower than a normal conference – just £65 to cover venue & other costs.
Benefits will be higher!
