Your Input Regarding Changes to BC's Society Act - Deadline Oct. 15The Ministry of Finance is reviewing the Society Act to modernize and update the statute regarding incorporationand governance of not-for-profit organizations. A White Paper has been developed based on consultations reachingback to 2009 - that paper is available online here. The document sets out policy recommendations and includesdraft legislation which provides an opportunity for societies to see what is being proposed and what a new Act maylook like. There are approx. 27,000 non-profit societies in BC that make valuable contributions to families andcommunities. They range in size from small community-based organizations to large charitable foundations.
