Congressional CalendarEnd of Year Priorities

• The Children’s Health Insurance Program, (CHIP) has expired; The CR allows States out of money to get a reprieve but does not permanently extend the program. The House passed a 5 year extension on November 3rd

• On Dec 12th, Treasury executed the first extraordinary measures to avoid breaching the debt ceiling.

• President Trump announced he will stop making CSR payments (which help insure low-income people) – Senator Collins received an assurance payments would be extended

• Republicans in Congress are pushing to clear tax reform by the end of 2017
