At age 9,mother married a man who sold foods stamps for drugs. Grew up poor in North Carolina.

Worked to earn money for mother while she was in prison.

Was living with his grandfather, and foster homes, bouncing back w/mom & foster care.

Spent time in juvenile detention center. Was introduced to guitar while in detention center

As an older teen, was taken in by older couple who took care of him.

Became a corrections officer--former foster brother in prison where he now worked.

She was born Alecia on September 8, 1979, in Doylestown, PA

She has a brother Jason Moore

Her Mother was a Nurse and her father was a Vietnam veteran

Although a healthy baby at birth, she quickly developed asthma that plagued her through her early years

Her father played guitar and sang songs to her, and from an early age she aspired to be a rock star

After fighting and arguing in front of her for many years, her parents finally divorced when she was very young. Some of her songs reflect this trauma.

She was a very unique teenager who struggled a lot with who she was. She went through phases as a skateboarder, hip-hopper and gymnast.

She married motocross racer Corey Hart on.
