Getting to Know Your Tahoe/Yukon 2-Mode Hybrid2

Your Tahoe or Yukon 2-Mode Hybriddrives just like a regular vehicle, but ithas several fuel-saving features thatincrease vehicle efficiency and maximizefuel economy. The hybrid features ofyour vehicle are enabled after theengine warms up to proper operatingtemperature.Your 2-Mode Hybrid vehicle includeselectric motors housed in the electricallyvariable hybrid transmission, a VortecV8 engine with Active Fuel Manage-ment™ and a 300-volt Energy StorageSystem. The V8 engine is not designedfor E85 fuel.A sophisticated electronic controlmodule selects the most efficient modeof operation based on the amount ofpower demanded by the driver andbattery charge level.In the first mode, under light accelera-tion and at speeds between 20 and 30mph, the vehicle may be powered byonly the electric motors, the engine,or a combination of both.The fuel-saving electric-only feature isreferred to as Auto Stop. It will turn offthe engine until the driver requestsincreased power or the hybrid batteryneeds charging.The second mode is used primarily athighway speeds and when trailering, inconjunction with the engine’s Active FuelManagement, to optimize fuel economywhile providing power when conditionsdemand it.The hybrid battery stores power for usewhen the vehicle’s engine is off while in

Auto Stop mode and supplies power forthe various electric motors used in the 2-Mode Hybrid system. The hybridbattery is recharged by the vehicleduring deceleration and while braking.It does not need to be plugged into anelectrical outlet.

Typical Hybrid Sounds

Your hybrid vehicle has several electricmotors, including the motors in thetransmission that help power the vehicleas well as the air conditioning compres-sor, brake pump, coolant pumps and,within the Hybrid Energy StorageSystem, a cooling fan and electricalcontactor switches. At times, you mayhear these motors start up or stop, andthey might produce a slight whirring,humming or blowing sound typical ofelectric motors. These are normalsounds found on a hybrid vehicle andmay be more noticeable when the vehi-cle is operating in the Auto Stop modewith the engine off. Your hybrid vehicle also does not makean audible starter noise when startingthe vehicle. Therefore, it may seem totake slightly longer to start than a non-hybrid vehicle. If the key is not held inthe start position long enough, the vehi-cle will not start but the instrument panelcluster warning lights will illuminate,requiring the key to be turned to thestart position again. You may also expe-rience a perceived hesitation whenselecting Reverse after starting thevehicle.See your Hybrid Owner Manual.

The economy gauge shows whenvehicle fuel economy is beingmaximized. Driving with the needle inthe solid green area indicates drivingbehavior that maximizes fuel economy.Accelerating too aggressively will movethe needle to the right, while brakingtoo aggressively will move the needle tothe left. Either of these behaviors willmove the needle outside the green area,indicating less fuel efficient driving.See your Hybrid Owner Manual.

Economy Gauge

The automatic engine stop/start feature,known as Auto Stop, turns off the engineat lower speeds until the Hybrid EnergyStorage System needs charging or thedriver requests increased power. While the vehicle is in Auto Stop mode,the needle on the tachometer moves tothe AUTO STOP position. The oil pres-sure gauge also will drop to zero. Whilelightly accelerating, the vehicle will bepropelled only by the electric motors.During heavy acceleration, both theengine and electric motors supplypower. A sensation similar to a transmis-sion gear change may be felt as thevehicle changes between engine powerand electric power.

Automatic Engine Stop/StartOperation

The Engine Will Remain Running When:

The engine may remain running undercertain conditions. Some conditionsthat would lead to an engine Auto Stopoverride include:• Driving in Reverse.• The engine or transmission is not yet

warmed up.• The transmission temperature or

Energy Storage System (ESS)temperature is high.

• The engine is required to run to helpachieve the selected climate controlheating and/or cooling setting.

• The Hybrid ESS charge is low.• The hood is not fully closed.• The Check Engine light is illuminated.• When playing the radio or using

electrical accessories with the vehicleoff, do not leave the key in the ACCposition for more than 30 minutes.Instead, leave the vehicle runningand rely on the Auto Stop feature tosupply power.

While in Auto Stop, all of the regularvehicle features are available, such aspower steering and brakes, the audiosystem and power accessories. After parking the vehicle and turning offthe engine by rotating the key to the Offposition, the tachometer needle willmove to the Off position.See your Hybrid Owner Manual.


Hybrid Energy Storage System

Your vehicle has a standard 12-voltbattery, located under the hood, and a300-volt Hybrid Energy Storage System(ESS). The Hybrid ESS, located underthe 2nd-row seats, provides power tothe system’s electric motors and willrecharge itself as necessary during idle,driving, and/or when braking efficiently.The vehicle will charge the high voltageESS when it is most efficient to charge,and discharge it when it is most efficientto discharge.See your Hybrid Owner Manual for additional ESS information.

Regenerative Braking

Regenerative braking recaptures someof the energy from the moving vehiclewhen coasting or braking and turns it intoelectrical energy. This energy is then

• Selecting the AUTO feature on 4WDmodels is less economical than 2WD.

• Unload unnecessary cargo to reducethe amount of weight in the vehicle.

• Regularly check and maintain propertire pressure.

• Maintain your vehicle. Regularmaintenance will keep your vehiclerunning cleaner and more efficiently.

With the engine off in Auto Stop mode,certain conditions may require theengine to restart. Some conditions thatwould lead to an engine restart include:• The accelerator pedal is applied,

demanding heavy acceleration. Thiswill not occur when the vehicle isin Park.

• The engine is required to run to helpachieve the selected climate controlheating and/or cooling setting.

• The Hybrid Energy Storage Systemcharge becomes low and requiresrecharging.

The Engine Will Restart When:

Your vehicle has a 300-volt, electricallypowered air conditioning compressorthat provides continuous air conditioningoperation and passenger comfort whilethe engine cycles on and off.When operating the climate control sys-tem, select the AUTO mode and thedesired temperature setting to allow thesystem to automatically adjust fan speedand airflow direction. In the AUTO mode,the system makes adjustments to makethe most efficient use of electrical power.To get the most engine off time and thehighest fuel savings, select a highertemperature setting or turn off the airconditioning. Continuous air conditioninguse can cause the engine to start morefrequently when in the Auto Stop mode.Due to the quiet operation of thevehicle, especially when the engine hasturned off, some noise may be heardoccasionally from the air conditioningcompressor.

Electric Air ConditioningCompressor

To view the hybrid system informationon the Navigation EntertainmentSystem, press the MENU hard key, andthen touch the Hybrid screen button. The hybrid screen has icons of anengine, battery, transmission andwheels. While the vehicle is in operation,these icons will change color indicatingthe source of power to the transmissionand, ultimately, the wheels. Power canbe provided entirely by the engine, elec-tric motors, or a combination of both. Anicon will also indicate when the batteryis being recharged by the regenerativebraking system. A text box at the bottomof the screen will indicate the currentmethod of power.See your Hybrid Owner Manual.

Hybrid System Information

In emergency situations, First Respond-ers needing to disable the 300-voltenergy storage system will see that the12-volt battery cables are clearly labeledin the engine compartment and, whencut, will disable the 300-volt system.See your Hybrid Owner Manual.

Remote Keyless Entry

The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) trans-mitter includes the following functions:

(Remote Vehicle Start): This featurecan be used to start the engine fromoutside the vehicle. (See RemoteVehicle Start on page 21.)

(Lock): Press this button to lock allthe doors. If enabled through the DriverInformationCenter (DIC),the parkinglamps willflash onceand/or thehorn will chirpto indicatelocking hasoccurred.

(Unlock): Press this button to unlockthe driver’s door. If the button is pressedagain within five seconds, all remainingdoors will unlock. If enabled through theDIC, the parking lamps will flash once toindicate unlocking has occurred.

(Vehicle Locator/Panic Alarm):Press this button to locate your vehicle.The parking lamps will flash and thehorn will sound three times. Press and hold the button to activate thepanic alarm. The parking lamps will flashand the horn will sound for 30 seconds.Press the button again or turn the igni-tion to Run to cancel the panic alarm.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

The power and manual seat controls arelocated on the outboard side of the seat. Power Seat Adjustment• Use the power seat control (A) to

move the seat forward or rearward,and to raise or lower the front or rearof the seat cushion.

Manual OperationTo operate the system manually, use thefollowing controls:

(On/Off): Press this button to turn thesystem on or off.Temperature Control: Press the + or –temperature button(s) to raise or lowerthe setting(s).

(Fan): Press the up or down arrow toincrease or decrease fan speed.

(Airflow Mode): Press the up ordown arrow to change the direction ofthe airflow as well as to select the defogmode.PASS (Passenger TemperatureControl): Press this button to turn offthe passenger temperature setting.

(Recirculation): Press this buttonto recirculate inside air through the vehi-cle. This mode keeps outside air fromentering the vehicle.

(Air Conditioning): Press thisbutton to turn the air conditioning systemon or off.

Adjustable Pedals (if equipped)

The acceleratorand brake pedalscan be adjustedto a comfortableand safe operat-ing position byusing the switchlocated on thecenter console below the climatecontrols.Press the top arrow on the switch tomove the pedals away from you andpress the bottom arrow on the switch tomove the pedals toward you.The pedals cannot be adjusted when thevehicle is in Reverse or when cruisecontrol is activated.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Automatic Climate Controls

Automatic OperationThe automatic climate control system isable to maintain the desired individualtemperature for the driver and frontseat passenger. The system adjusts theairflow mode, fan speed, air conditioningand recirculation functions to reachthe set temperature(s) as quickly aspossible.

Continue to press the desired button tocycle through the temperature settingsof High (three indicator lights), Medium(two indicator lights), Low (one indicatorlight) and Off (all indicator lights are off).See Section 1 of your Owner Manual.


AUX or REAR (Rear Climate Control):Press this button to turn the rear climatecontrol system on or off. The buttonindicator will illuminate when the rearsystem is on.

(Defrost): Press this button todirect most of the air to the windshieldand some air to the side window outlets.

(Rear Window Defogger): Pressthis button to activate the rear windowdefogger and the heated outsiderearview mirrors. The defogger andheated mirrors will shut off automaticallyor can be turned off by pressing the but-ton again.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Rear Seat Climate Controls

The rear seat climate control systemcan be operated using the front climatecontrols on the instrument panel, or therear control panel located on the back ofthe floor console.To turn the rear system on or off usingthe front controls, press the AUX orREAR button on the front control panel.The settings in the rear will be the sameas the driver’s until they are changedusing the rear controls.

Rear Controls with RSA

To operate the system, use the rearcontrols that are integrated with theRear Seat Audio (RSA) controls. Oncethe system is adjusted using the rearcontrols, the system operates accordingto the rear control panel settings.Rear controls include:AUTO: Press the (Airflow Mode)button until AUTO is displayed to auto-matically control temperature, airflowand fan speed.

(Fan): Press the up or down fanarrow to manually adjust fan speed.Continue to press the down fan arrowto turn off the system.

(Airflow Mode): Press the AirflowMode button to manually adjust thedirection of the airflow.Temperature Control: Press the + or –temperature button to adjust the setting.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

System ControlsTo operate the Navigation EntertainmentSystem, press the hard keys next tothe touch screen to access the mainmenus. Touch the words or commandsshaped like a button in the on-screenmenus and submenus to select systemfunctions.

The controls and hard keys of thesystem include:

(Power/Volume): Press this knob toturn the system on or off. Turn the knobto adjust the volume.

(Tune/Sound): Press this knob tochange tone/speaker positions or audiosettings. Turn the knob to tune in a radiostation.NAV (Navigation): Press this key toview the map screen. DEST (Destination): Press this key toaccess the destination entry screen.RPT (Navigation Repeat): Press thiskey to repeat the last voice guidanceprompt.FAV (Favorite): Press this key toaccess the preset radio stations.

(SEEK): Press these keys toseek radio stations, CD tracks or DVDchapters.Before presetting radio stations or enter-ing a navigation destination, shift thevehicle into Park.

Setting Radio Station PresetsYou can set up to six pages of anycombination (AM, FM, or XM, ifequipped) of preset radio stations,with up to five stations on each page.To set the number of favorite stationpages:1. Press the MENU hard key to access

the menu screen.2. Touch the Radio screen button.3. Touch the FAV (Number of Preset

Pages) screen button.4. Touch the desired number of preset

pages.

Note: Engaging in extended searchingfor specific audio stations or navigationfeatures by using buttons and knobs —or giving extended attention to entertain-ment tasks — can lead you to look awayfrom the road frequently or for prolongedperiods, which may cause you to missseeing things on the road that you needto see. Be sure to keep your eyes on theroad and mind on the drive — and avoidengaging in extended searching forspecific items while driving.


To preset radio stations:1. Press the AUDIO hard key to access

the audio source screen and selectthe desired band (AM, FM, or XM,if equipped).

2. Use the SEEK hard keys or the Tuneknob to select a station.

3. Press the FAV hard key to select thedesired page of presets (up to sixpages).

4. Touch and hold one of the five radiopreset screen buttons until a beepsounds or the station is displayed onthe screen button.

Rear Seat AudioThe Rear Seat Audio (RSA) systemallows front seat and rear seat passen-gers to listen to different entertainmentsources at the same time using the rearseat controls and wired headphones(not supplied) or wireless headphones(if equipped). The vehicle’s rear speak-ers may be muted when the rear controlpanel is turned on.


6. To control DVD playback, use theremote control or the buttons underthe labels on the front radio display.

The Automatic Headlamp System turnson the Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs)in the daytime and the headlamps andother exterior lamps at night or whennecessary.The system uses a light sensor, locatedon top of the instrument panel, to deter-mine light conditions. For proper opera-tion, avoid placing any objects on ornear the sensor.ExteriorLampsControlThe exteriorlamps canbe operatedusing thecontrol knoblocated onthe left sideof the instrument panel. CONVENIENCE

Automatic Headlamp System/Exterior Lamps

• Press the SRCE (Source) button toselect an entertainment source —radio, CD, or DVD (if equipped).

• Turn the left volume knob to adjustthe volume of the left wired head-phones and the right volume knob toadjust the volume of the right wiredheadphones.

Rear Seat Entertainment (DVD)The Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE)system has all the functions of the RSAsystem, with the added features of aCD/DVD player as part of the frontradio, a flip-down video screen, wirelessheadphones and a remote control.To play a DVD:1. Turn the ignition to the Accessory or

Run position.2. Press the release button on the DVD

display console and pull down thevideo screen.

3. Insert a DVD into the DVD slot in theradio. It will begin playing on thevideo screen automatically. It may benecessary to press the Play button onthe RSE system or the remote controlif the DVD stops at a menu screen.

4. To listen to the DVD through the vehi-cle speakers, press the DVD/CD AUXbutton. Adjust volume using the radiovolume control.

5. To listen to the DVD through thewireless headphones, select channel1 and push the power button on theheadphones. Adjust volume using theheadphone volume control.

Note: Aim the remote control at thevideo screen, not the DVD player,for proper operation.

(Off/On): Turn the knob to this posi-tion to turn off the Automatic HeadlampSystem and Daytime Running Lamps.Turn the knob to this position again toturn on the system.

(Parking Lamps): This positionturns on the parking lamps andtaillamps.

(Headlamps): This position turnson the headlamps, parking lamps andtaillamps. See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Interior Lamps

The followinginterior lampcontrols arelocated onthe left sideof the instru-ment panel:

(Instrument Panel Brightness):Turn this pop-out knob to adjust thebrightness of the instrument panel lights.

(Dome Lamp Override): Pressthis button in to turn off the dome

lamps when a door is open. Press thebutton again to have the dome lampsturn on automatically when a door isopen.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Cruise Control

The followingcruise controlbuttons arelocated on theleft side of thesteering wheel:

(On/Off):Press this buttonto turn thecruise controlsystem on or off.– SET (Set): Press this button to set aspeed, or to decrease the speed if thesystem is set. When the cruise controlspeed is set, the cruise control light willilluminate in the instrument cluster.+ RES (Resume): Press this button toresume a set speed, or to increase thespeed if the system is set.

(Cancel): Press this button to can-cel the cruise control but retain the setspeed in memory.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Auto Turn Signal

The turn signal lever includes an auto-matic lane change signal feature.• To signal a lane change, raise or

lower the lever until the arrow on theinstrument panel cluster starts toflash, and then release the lever. Theturn signal will automatically flashthree times.

• To signal a turn, move the lever allthe way up or down.



Windshield Wipers and WasherThe controls for the windshield wipersare located on the multifunction leveron the left side of the steering column.The wipers band can be rotated to thefollowing positions:

(Mist): Rotate the band down to thisposition to turn the wipers on for onewipe.

(Off): Rotate the wipers to thisposition to turn off the wipers.

(Delay): Rotate the band up to oneof the delay settings to adjust the

amount of delay between wipes. Thewipers activate more often as the bandis rotated upward.

(Low): Rotate the band up to thisposition for continuous, low-speedwiping.

(High): Rotate the wipers band upto this position for rapid, high-speedwipes.

(Washer Fluid): Push the paddleon top of the multifunction lever to spraywasher fluid on the windshield.Rear Wiper and WasherThe rear wiper and washer controls,located on the end of the multifunctionlever, include the following functions:

(Off): Slide the switch to this positionto turn off the rear wiper.

Wipers and Washers (Delay): Slide the switch to thisposition to turn on the delayed wipingsetting.

(Rear Wiper): Slide the switch tothis position to turn on the continuouswiping setting.

(Washer): Press the button on theend of the lever to spray washer fluid onthe rear window.


Universal Home Remote

The Universal Home Remote is auniversal transmitter that can activate upto three devices, such as garage dooropeners, entry door locks, gates andsecurity systems.It’s recommended that you read theinstructions in your Owner Manual com-pletely before attempting to program anyof the three channels on the UniversalHome Remote. The engine should beturned off when programming theremote.


Note: Do not use the Universal HomeRemote with any garage door openerthat does not have the “stop andreverse” feature or any opener manu-factured before April 1, 1982.

Note: Hybrid decals on the frontwindshield and rear liftgate glass canbe damaged when using ice scrapers.Use care around the decals to preventdamage.

Rear Vision Camera

The rear vision camera displays aview of the area behind the vehicle onthe navigation screen after the vehiclehas been started and is shifted intoReverse. Once shifted out of Reverse,the navigation screen will return to thelast screen displayed after approximately10 seconds.To turn the camera on or off:1. Shift into Park.

Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist

This feature uses ultrasonic sensorson the rear bumper to help you avoidcolliding with objects when parking thevehicle. It operates only at speeds lessthan 5 mph.The rear parking assist display is locat-ed near the rear window. The lights onthe display provide distance information.Low-toned continuous beeps play out ofthe speakers when objects are within 23inches (0.6 m) of the rear bumper.

To turn off the system, press the (Rear Parking Assist) disable buttonlocated below the climate controls onthe instrument panel. The indicator lightwill illuminate when the system is off.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Sunroof (if equipped)

The following power sunroof switchesare located on the overhead console:

(Express-Open): Press the rear ofthis switch completely to express-openthe sunroof. To stop the sunroof, pressthe switch again.To partially open the sunroof, lightlypress and hold the rear of the switchuntil the sunroof reaches the desiredposition.

(Express-Close): Press the front ofthis switch completely to express-closethe sunroof. To stop the sunroof, pressthe switch again.To partially close the sunroof, lightlypress and hold the front of the switchuntil the sunroof reaches the desiredposition.

(Vent): Press the rear of this switchto vent the sunroof. Press the switch

again to stop the sunroof.Press and hold the front of the switch toclose the sunroof.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

2. Press the MENU hard key to enterthe Menu options.

3. Press the MENU hard key to selectDisplay, or touch the Display screenbutton.

4. Touch the Rear Camera Optionsscreen button.

5. Touch the Rear Camera Image inReverse screen button.

To clean the camera lens, located abovethe license plate, rinse with water andwipe with a soft cloth.See your Navigation Entertainment System Owner Manual.

Note: The Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist(URPA) system will not activate if youhave a trailer hitch or trailer attached toyour vehicle, or a bicycle or other objectis hanging out of your vehicle. The sys-tem may also be disabled if dirt, snow orice builds up on the sensors.


Folding 2nd-Row Seats

The 2nd-row seats fold and tumble toprovide more cargo space as well asaccess to the 3rd-row seats. Beforemoving a seat, make sure nothing isunder or in front of the seat and lowerthe head restraint.To fold and tumble the seat:1. Fold the seatback forward by lifting

the release lever located at the bot-tom rear of the seatback on the out-board side of the seat.

2. Tumble the seat forward by lifting therelease lever again.

To unfold the seat:1. Pull down the seat until it latches to

the floor.2. Lift up the seatback until it locks in

place. Pull on the seatback to makesure it is locked.


Folding 3rd-Row Seats

The split 3rd-row seats fold and tumbleto provide more cargo space. Beforemoving a seat, make sure nothing isunder or in front of the seat and lowerthe head restraint.To fold and tumble the seat:1. Fold the seatback forward by lifting

the release lever (A) located at thebottom rear of the seatback on theoutboard side of the seat.

2. Tumble the seat forward by lifting therelease lever (B) located to the left ofthe handle on the center rear of theseat.

3. Tilt the seat fully forward to lock itin place.

To unfold the seat:1. Lower the seat by lifting the release

lever (B) located to the left of thehandle on the center rear of the seat.

115-Volt Power Outlet

The 115-volt,household-style poweroutlet islocated inthe cargoarea. It ispowered byyour vehicle’s 12-volt battery. With theignition turned to the Accessory or Onposition, it provides convenient plug-inpower to operate a variety of smallelectronic equipment.See your Hybrid Owner Manual.

2. Pull down the seat until it latches tothe floor.

3. Lift up the seatback until it locks inplace. Pull on the seatback to makesure it is locked.

To remove the seat:• With the seat folded down, pull rear-

ward on the handle located in thecenter of the seat. The latches willbecome disengaged, allowing theseat to be easily pulled rearward.

To reinstall seat:1. Align the rollers on the bottom of the

seat track with the latches on the floor. 2. Push the seat forward until it latches.

Make sure the seat is locked in place.See Section 1 of your Owner Manual.

Liftgate Operation

Use the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)transmitter or the power door lock switchto lock or unlock the liftgate.• To open the liftgate, press the touch-

pad on the back of the handle in thecenter of the liftgate; then pull up theliftgate.

The liftgate window is fixed and doesnot open independently from the liftgate.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

This feature allows you to start theengine from outside the vehicle by usingthe Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) trans-mitter. The engine will always remain onwhile in remote start mode.The remote start capability must beturned on using the Driver InformationCenter. The vehicle’s automatic climatecontrol system will default to a heatingor cooling mode based on outsidetemperature.

Starting the VehicleTo remote-start the vehicle:1. Aim the RKE transmitter at the

vehicle. (Transmitter range is withinapproximately 200 feet of thevehicle.)

2. Press and release the (Lock)button on the transmitter.

3. Immediately press and hold the (Remote Vehicle Start) button forabout four seconds. When the park-ing lamps flash, release the button.The engine will start and the parkinglamps will remain on. The engine willcontinue running for 10 minutes.

4. Repeat these steps for a 10-minutetime extension. Only two consecutiveremote starts can be executed.

When you enter the vehicle after aremote start, the key must be inserted inthe ignition and turned to the Run posi-tion before driving.

• To turn off bothtraction controland StabiliTrak,press and holdthe button forfive seconds.Press the but-ton again toturn on both systems.

Canceling a Remote StartTo turn off the engine instead of drivingafter a remote start:• Press and hold the button until the

parking lamps turn off.• Press and release the Hazard

Warning Flashers button. Press itagain to turn off the flashers.

• Turn the key in the ignition switch tothe Run position and then off.


PERFORMANCE & MAINTENANCE

StabiliTrak® – Stability ControlSystem

StabiliTrak is an advanced computer-controlled vehicle stability and tractionenhancement system that assists withdirectional control of the vehicle indifficult driving conditions. It turns onautomatically every time you start yourvehicle.To limit wheelspin and help maintaindirectional control, you should alwaysleave the system on. However, if yourvehicle becomes stuck and rocking thevehicle is required, the system shouldbe turned off.• To turn off the traction control part

of the system, press the (StabiliTrak/Traction Control) buttonlocated on the center of the instru-ment panel.

Tire Pressure Monitor

The Tire Pressure Monitor alerts youwhen a significant reduction in pressureoccurs in one or more of your vehicle’stires by illuminating the (Low TirePressure) warning light on the instru-ment panel cluster. The low tire pressurewarning light will remain on until youcorrect the tire pressure. A CHECK TIREPRESSURE message will also appearon the DIC.Correcting the Tire PressureWhen the low tire pressure warning lightilluminates, you must inflate the tire tothe proper tire pressure (just as youmust refuel the vehicle when the lowfuel warning light illuminates). The Tireand Loading Information label shows thecorrect tire pressure for the tires whenthey’re cold. “Cold” means your vehiclehas been sitting for at least three hoursor driven no more than one mile.

Note: The Remote Vehicle Start featurewill not operate if the key is in the igni-tion, the hood or liftgate is open, or theCheck Engine light is illuminated on theinstrument cluster.

You can temporarily clear the DICmessage by acknowledging it with yourDIC controls. However, at the nextvehicle start-up, the DIC message willreappear if the tire pressure has notbeen corrected.During cooler conditions, the low tirepressure warning light may appear whenthe vehicle is first started and then turnoff as you start to drive. This could bean early indicator that your tire pres-sures are getting low and the tires needto be inflated to the proper pressure.


Note: The Tire Pressure Monitor canalert you about low tire pressure, but itdoesn’t replace normal monthly tiremaintenance.

Tire Sealant and Compressor Kit

Your vehicle does not have a spare tireor a jack. In case of a flat tire, a tiresealant and compressor kit is providedto seal small punctures in the tread areaof the tire. The kit is located underneaththe driver-side storage tray in the rearcargo area. Refer to the kit instructionsfor complete operating information.See your Hybrid Owner Manual.

Reset the Oil Life System

The Oil Life System calculates engineoil life based on vehicle use and dis-plays CHANGE ENGINE OIL in theDriver Information Center (DIC) whenit’s necessary to change your engine oiland filter. The Oil Life System should bereset to 100% only following an oilchange.

Refueling the Vehicle

The fuel door is located on the driver’sside of the vehicle. Use regular unlead-ed fuel with a minimum octane rating of87. E85 fuel cannot be used.• To open the fuel door, press the

center-rear edge of the door and itwill pop open slightly. Pull the door toopen it fully.

• To close the fuel door, press the rearedge of the door until it latches and isflush with the side of the vehicle.


To reset the Oil Life System using theDIC:1. Turn on the ignition.2. Press the (Vehicle Information)

button until the DIC displays OIL LIFEREMAINING.

3. Press and hold the (Set/Reset)button until 100% is displayed.

4. Turn off the ignition.See Section 5 of your Owner Manual.

Hybrid Service

All service and repair of the hybridcomponents on your vehicle should beperformed only at a Chevrolet or GMCdealership with hybrid-trained servicetechnicians. Non-hybrid service may beperformed at any Chevrolet or GMCdealership.Never try to do your own service onhybrid components.
