MAGNETIC DETECTIONThe cylinder type PES, dia. 32 to 100 mm, onto which detectorscan be mounted, has a force line spectrum according toCNOMO E 530 52 809. Field values: 7.5 m Tesla at point MTand a maximum of 2 m Tesla at the fringe of the force linespectrum (1 m Tesla = approx. 10 Gauss).
Optimal position detection is guaranteed when using our ATEX COMPACT detectors: reed switch or magneto-resistive(MR) type, see P11-293.
Air cylinders equipped with a magnet (M) designed to operate incombination with magnetic position detectors (DM). These air cylin-ders can be equipped with one or more magnetic position detectors(without contact) attached to the barrel. They allow limit positions andintermediate piston positions to be detected.

The international standards define a cylinder unit equippedwith its mountings without any specifications relative to thebare cylinder alone.
JOUCOMATIC''s cylinder, type PES series 450-453,complies with this standard.
The new standards first define all the external dimensionsof a bare cylinder and then the mountings which, whenmounted, must comply with the above unit (ISO 6431cylinder).
JOUCOMATIC's cylinder, type PES series 450-453,complies with this standard.
The French standards first define all the external dimen-sions of a bare cylinder and then the mountings.
JOUCOMATIC's cylinder, type PCN, complies with thisstandard.
Interchangeability betweenmanufacturers is achievedby replacing both thecylinder and its mountings.
Ful l interchangeabi l i tybetween the manufacturersis achieved at every level:
• bare cylinder,• each mounting,• complete unit.
Ful l interchangeabi l i tybetween the manufacturersis possible at every level:

EFFORTS DEVELOPED BY A CYLINDER (in daN)
DEFINITION OF THE DIAMETER OF A CYLINDER
• THE DYNAMIC EFFORT DEVELOPED BY A CYLINDER
F = Pressure x piston area x efficiencyThe efficiency of a cylinder depends on the diameter of thecylinder, on the pressure and on its mechanical construction. The graph and a chart below show the dynamic effort developedby a cylinder at the piston rod, at various supply pressures.
• LOAD FACTORThis is the relationship expressed as a percentage between theactual load being moved by the cylinder and the dynamic effortavailable at the end of the piston rod.
actual loadLoad factor (in %) = x 100
dynamic effort
For an optimum installation of a cylinder, we recommend acylinder with a load factor inferior or equal to 75%.
EXAMPLE: Calculate a cylinder to lift a load of 130 daN with apressure of 7 bar (gauge pressure).
The graph below shows the cross over point between thedynamic effort and the supply pressure. The cylinder diameterrequired will be that where the curve passes this point or thecylinder giving a force immediately above that required. In the example above: 175 daN is between Ø 50 and Ø 63. Thecylinder recommended is the Ø 63 mm which will develop aforce of 200 daN at 7 bar and the actual load factor is:
130 daNx 100 = 65%
200 daN
